Great news, the Arc Audio 10" sub will fit under the passenger seat. The box is going to be multifaceted to make this work, the air space will be a bit under the optimum but over the minimum so it will still perform quite well. I have one heck of alot of work to do in the next couple of days as have to build a mold from the finished box as well as build the prototype.

The STI is in our shop, interior stripped out except the headliner which is about 1/2 way out, we just started a few hours ago. This car will be totaly sound deadened, have a nice component set with pillar tweeters, mids in the doors, sub under passenger seat, two amps under the drivers seat, all the weight in the middle of the vehicle and most of it mounted low. Handling dynamics will barely be affected, total weight gain for everything will be around 80 lbs.

The owner is here working with us, really cool car guy that knows how to turn a wrench quite well, makes it much more fun. In fact I rarely work on somebodies car unless they are working with me, now us as my son is my partner now and he is working hard right along with us:)

Will keep you updated once a day or so.

Is this with our without cutting carpet?

Stock carpet will be left unharmed:)

So far the only mod is to bend a little bracket for a wire connector out of the way, can do it with bare hands if you have a good grip.

Agreed.

Also (sorry for the hijack), any chance that big secret project you worked on a couple months back is ready to be seen?

How will you fit 2 amps under one seat? Which amps are you installing? I would be interested in the underseat sub idea, but I have an amp under each seat and would rather not have them in the trunk. That's the only thing holding me back.

Sounds great. I'm interested in how two amps will fit also. Seems like the perfect stealth setup. Keep us posted.

Rick,

have you ever used an aperiodic vent? I find them very useful when making up space in a box thats a bit small.

And do tell about the two amps under one seat...I would love to be able to fit a pair of alpine 3555 under one seat.

I have a questions regarding dynamatting with this setup. Is there any reason to do the trunk if the sub is up front. Is it sufficient to just do the rear deck and seats area.

There's still a lot of sound that comes into the car from there rear...esp with the rear diff and all. A slight bit of matting on a few panels to deaden them would be good, but a few layers of extra foam or insulation behind/under the rear seat would probably be best to kill that road noise.
