It can be 'made' to work....it will need to be trimmed slightly for width on a grinder.

That code is for the dealer as an idenification so they can cut you a new key. They have a book with the codes and they just look it up.

That little tag is just the 'key' code....on the '05's, there are 2 little tags---one a bit larger than the other----the larger one has the 'security' code for the immobilozer....and the smaller one is the 'key' code.

wut do u mean JDM?? theres the all silver spec c key that many dealerships carry...and they have the 04 sti key, thats half silver/half blue...only jdm key i kno of is that one with the built in alarm that costs an arm and a leg....

I thought horrorbiz was talking about some special JDM key. I Should have thought some more. It's a freakin' key...

I had to "modify" an STi key to work with my '99rs. When I bought it the original owner only had a singlekey. I took notes for what it took if you'ld like. Basically patience and a jewelers file after the hardware store copied the stock key for me. The dealer sold me the key, however told me that my '99 was the only year that was not compatible, therefore they had no "code". I think it was worth it. The wifey thinks I'm crazy, but it looks sooo good with no other keys hanging with it. It resembles a racing switch sticking out of the ignition.

I got a USDM STI key cut for my 2001 RS and it works fine. It doesn't open the trunk, but it starts the car. The new age WRX and STI keys are the same length but different from the old style RS key. They cut a WRX blankk for me, that worked, so they cut me an STI key. I do not know if there is a difference between 00 and 01 RS.
