i know that i am finish modding my 2003 wrx . it has a accessport , vf34 , sti injectors , walbro fuel pump , helix up pipe , helix downpipe , blitz catback and hyperflow fmic . i am definately finish modding . but i would like the car to be tuned to the best of its abilites .so i plan on ditching the accessport and getting a ECUtek or UTEC . i dont plan on going back to stock or upgrading anything else . is it safe to say that i can go to ECUtek , tune it to the best of its abilites and forget about it .

ECUtek will probably be the best if you are done modding.
If you plan to make changes in the future, something with more flexiability in changes (like a UTEC) would be your best bet

wait for accesstuner since you already have an accessport.
If it sucks, or you can't wait any longer, go ecutek.

what would the ecutek offer that the utec does not, i can't he just get a preset map for his mods on a utec and be done?

Not exactly. Since the Utec can't really learn you need a custom tune.
I vote for ECUtek. When I got done modding I dumped my Utec in favor of a custom tuned ECUtek.

Have you ever seen anyone with a UTEC set their map and then not ever have to change it if the mods don't change for months/years? UTECs take constant messing with to keep the car running right through the changes of the environment you're in. This is one of the major drawbacks of piggyback solutions... constant adjusting.

you have to be careful with this sort of reasoning.
it IS possible to have one single solitary map and run it all the time, year after year.
the thing is, most users of utecs want to USE their utecs. that means tuning it to push the envelope. it's addictive. you push another degree here, and one there, and suddenly you're making another 10hp.
so the question really is, why WOULDN'T you keep screwing with the thing!!

what's the ballpark of an Ecutek re-re-flash, after you already have ecuteck and say add a new turbo and supporting mods?

Whatever dyno time might cost for the tuner near me. ECUtek doesn't actually charge for new maps, but your local tuner may.
