Hmmm....I didn't see anything about a wideband O2 sensor. Did I miss something, or does this rely totally on the ECU for A/F. (I suppose you might want to hook one up, just to be safe, in case you fubar'd a setting here or there!)

From Trey:

External Wideband O2 input isn't supported just yet. We're looking to add in support for the LM1 if you're PC has multiple COM ports, similar to Deltadash. Those are the most immediate plans. The value displayed currently is off the stock Front O2 sensor which isn't a full wide-band. Our feelings were that people would at least want to have some built in feedback but ultimately you need a real Wide-Band to tune accurately.

so now we wait until the 11th of feb, then we find out how long we have to wait?

I'm guessing Feb 11th is going to be when they "go gold" and declare the software finished. After that there is still a bit of prep time required to ship the product in terms of CD burning, packaging, documentation printing, etc. So my speculation is that Trey will have a good idea of the lead time for that stuff by the gold date, which will then make a shipping date easier to pinpoint.

NICE!!!

sounds like the Street tuner has some great features... look out UTEC! Makes me anxious to see the capabilities and ease of use of the Accesstuner when it's finally released!

I'm also happy to hear that you will be able to "un-marry" it... that means us cheap folks will be able to pick up some used units

note how normal AP users will NOT be able to swap maps created with ST (nice way to "encourage" upgrades).

i'm betting the delays have to do with the security. cobb doesnt want the russians to 0wn their software.

Mmmm... some Tuna with Cobb Salad.

Soooo... people WITH the street tuna can swap maps then? that still sounds pretty sweet. IF that is the case where people can swap maps, that does help encourage upgrades while Cobb makes his money. If two people with tuna's cant swap maps, that would really be sucky.

still ignoring us gc's though. the "AT" is the only thing that can keep enough happy, and boy owuld i be happy, otherwise i'll HAVE to do an sti drivetrain swap.

i hate having my mind made up about mods before they exsist.

It's a step in the right direction...I was just about to sell my AP & buy a Utec! There was some talk on Cobb's fourm that the software will be available via download from the internet. That would make things sweet!

It's a step in the right direction...I was just about to sell my AP & buy a Utec!...WRC51: props to your patience, man! How long do you think it'll be until you can actually tune with this thing?

I was just thinking before you posted... Why would Cobb make one more announcement about an unfinished product they originally promised for November, 2003 that is still weeks away and may not come out with wideband sensor support. Then I read your post... "...I was just about to sell my AP...."

Oh OK, I get it.

UTEC didn't have wideband support when it was released. And really, it still doesn't have it by itself. You have to spend an extra chunk of money for Tuna, yes? At least that is my understanding.

Adding LM-1 support to StreetTuner will be a relatively simple future software update and I can still log wideband on my own anyway, so I'll take ST now and be happy and look forward to the update.

My thoughts exactly. I just want the ability to get a custom tune. I have no illusions of doing it myself quite yet. ;)

this AP thing.... you connect it to the OBD port under the dash and flash the factory ECU. so to use the street tuner, do you connect the AP to the laptop and manipulate the maps, disconnect laptop, then reconnec to car to flash? doesn't seem like on-the-fly adjustments this way. i'm too lazy to read the whole thing. someone tell me pleeease

We're too lazy to explain it to you so why don't you read the whole thing?

the AP uses a serial connector. YOu can directly connect your laptop to the ECU. woulnt it be funny if I plugged my laptop into the ECU and XP said "New Hardware found" "2005 Impreza WRX" "your hardware is now ready to use"

02-02-2005, 07:51 PM
Nah, you'd have to download the 2005 drivers from subaru. ;) Maybe it's not true in the WRX but the STi and FXT 05 ecus are new. Mine is going to ask me to install the drivers for 2005 Forester XT. Hahhaa.

so theoretically what is the biggest turbo for a daily driver you could put on a wrx(with 2.0l)? need to start plannin and saving...

Drews_WRX
02-03-2005, 07:27 PM
depends on what you consider "daily driver"....

VF22...FP Green?...Ive never been in a VF22 car, so I cant comment on the lag/anti-lag this turbo has. But the FP green is probably pushing the limits. IMO

surfer5567
02-03-2005, 08:57 PM
the fp would be pushing he limits of what? the engine or daily driver? im more on the "i can sacrifice a little daily driverness for power" fence than "i need to get great gas mileage" fence. what is the max power you could get out of a fp on said EM and stock internals?

surfer5567
02-04-2005, 05:54 PM
would an PE 1820 be too much for the internals? im looking to get into the 11's and have a streetable car.
thanks for the help
