View Full Version : UTEC as pass through

from my understanding, the way to get the UTEC to work as a pass through (like say if i were running a reflash under the utec...but wanted just to log what the reflash was doing with the UTEC+TUNA), all i have to do is turn off OLF (set it to 0), then run on map 0, correct?

I thought that map 0 was the stock map. I didn't think you had to adjust anything if you were on map 0.

yes, no need to turn on or off any utec parameters if on map 0.

keep in mind if you've got bigger injectors or altered fuel pressure there will be no maf correction for them in map 0.

but...if you are running OLF, on map 0, you are still using the background OLF fuel map, right?

so to get the stock ecu fuelling, you need to turn off OLF first.

reason being- i am running OLF and bigger injectors. if i switch to map 0, i can still drive fine. (relatively)

...or is there a difference between the map 0 on the map switch and the map 0 on the utec?

I thought that the Utec went into a pass through mode when set to map 0. I could be wrong with the new firmware. I have not played with it very much.
When you are on map 0 is yor AF still 14:1 at idle? What size injectors?

yep, at idle, my AFRs are still 14.7.

785cc injectors.

Wow
What happens when you shut off the OLF?
Can you see LT/ST fuel trims?
Are they pinned - ?

correction- (stopped at my car to double check) when i switch to map 0, AFRs go rich for about 3 seconds then level off. when i switch back to map 0, they go lean for about 3 seconds then level off....i dont think the stock ecu would trim 785cc injectors that quickly...would they?

havent tried turning off OLF...and i dont have DD to detect LT/ST.

Was just curious.
But with those injectors youu should all most not start I would think.

In the Utec manual Pg 16 1) You can not run stock mode if you have bigger injectors
Try shutting off the OLF. It would be good to know that OLF needs to be off for true stock mods.

Do you have a big MAF?

no big MAF...blitz sus- which is the same ID as stock.

i wonder if we can get someone from txs to chime in?

If my utec was in the car I would go out and try it.
It would be nice to know. :)

The short term fuel trim would work to make things 14.7:1 as quickly as it could...

What injectors are you running? (PE, Perrin modified, etc?)

Put the map switch on the utec on 0. Try the same thing but only use the remote map switch.
To me it sounds like you are switching both switches (remote and utec). Are you?

My gut feeling on this is that OLF is enabled even when in Map 0 mode. I've never tested it myself it was just a gut feeling from dyno pulls on cars that wanted to see a baseline run before you turn on the UTEC. Map 0 used to be used for this but OLF seems to always be on.

Someone should test it. I would bet it is always on unless turned off. If you are running 785cc injectors and no bigmaf the trims are not going to be able to account for that much extra fuel.

Wouldn't that depend on how the injectors run at given idcs? Maybe the injectors he's using run like stock injectors at low idcs(if that's even possible)? I've never tested if the utec turns off its olf mode automatically in stock mode either. I've never even tried to use stock mode:). eh,

Could be. Just the dyno pulls that we did the fueling looked too consistant to be stock. Like I said this was a GUT feeling, I've never tested the assumption.

"happasaiyan" you are asking the question, go test it so we all know the answer :)
