I've decided to go with the Ecutek reflash for my engine management and was wondering if there was any difference in through the mail tuning and having it done locally? The price difference is $150 where the through the mail is cheaper, what should i go with? All i'll have tuned is the intake and TBE...
Thanks

If you have a local tuner who will do a custom flash for your car, you DEFINITELY want to go that way. The through the mail flash will by necessity be much more conservative and make less power, plus wont be tuned for your specific car, local gas, and mods. Plus, this is your opportunity to establish a relationship with your local tuner so that he'll reflash you for cheap when you add the big turbo (or any other mod) :D

If your gonna get it by mail you might as well get an AP.

WOW, good question! I too am going with Ecutek but have already purchased it through a local shop with an all-wheel dyno. the one factor that came to my mind about the difference is the the pressure differences of the origination of the tune and your location. also octane ratings. here in FL we have good gas, so I wouldn't buy an Ecutek tune from Cali. I'm sure there are other factors. I suggest contacting Ecutek for any specific questions because i don't know all of the parameter that may be affected.

if you can get a reflash for 150$ cheaper through mail, you could put that money towards a custom tune once you get it back and you are basically getting a free hour of tuning. doesnt sound like too bad a deal to me.

That depends on how good a tuner you have in Texas. Getting a map via mail may be better if the tuner supporting you via mail may have significantly more tuning experience.
I was not aware there were any EcuTek tuners in Texas, who is doing the tuning?

MZM is and they are real compitent tuners, Muhammad the owner is the one who tunes and I would def trust him with my car, so with that said I think I will go with the custom route here in town, I guess i needed to hear it from someone else as stupid as that sounds...

Get a custom tune if you can. When the ecutek went into my car with the base map, it was knocking. Thankfully, I didn't order through the mail.
