View Full Version : Can I cash out my extended warranty?
dream 02-06-2005, 07:51 PM When I first purchased my 05 STi I thought I wasnt going to mod it at all and I bought the extended warrenty. Well now I got bit by the mod bug and im doing all kinds of stuff to the car. The question is, can I sell this back to the dealer somehow or how does that work? Thanks in advance. :)
Wheels 02-06-2005, 08:04 PM Yes you can get a refund. Take the car to the dealer get a cancelation form have them fill in the mileage of the car and then it takes like 4 week to get a check cut for it
STi-MAN 02-07-2005, 01:27 AM wow its refundable? hmmmm thinking about that.

Steve passed your email along to me. In order to cancel your Subaru warranty, you must come to the store in person and fill out paperwork. Any refund due will be sent to your lienholder. Additionally, your monthly payment will remain the same. It would probably be in your best interest to keep the coverage, because if you cancel it, you will be making the same payments as you have been all along, but you will have to pay for any repairs on the car yourself. If you should choose to cancel the coverage, you will need to visit the dealership Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to fill out the paperwork.
Sincerely,
Wheels 02-07-2005, 04:14 PM Ignore that crap. Its just an effort to persuade you not to get a refund because they lose a chunk of change. :D I know cos I did it.
draggin wagon04 02-07-2005, 04:42 PM I have been thinking about doing the same for the same reason, but now I am 1,000 miles away from my dealer. Any suggestions?
Wheels 02-07-2005, 05:52 PM you can take it to any dealership. They will fill in the mileage and then the form should be sent to SOA who will issue your issuing dealer the check who will send it on to you.
Wheels 02-07-2005, 05:53 PM if your really bothered about them sending payment to your finance company simply refinance the car with another finance institute before you cancel :)
Takes all or an hour to of your time.

Wheels 02-07-2005, 06:10 PM your redund is prorated. I got back over half of it because I had done 35k and it was only 18month into the 5 years, 100k I think I got a check for 1300
dream 02-07-2005, 06:42 PM Thank you so much for the info! :)
AVwrx 02-07-2005, 07:45 PM How much did all of you pay for the service and what kind of service. I just got 7year/100k for $2300, but found a subie dealer on line that quoted only $1100. Is the price set by subaru or the dealer?
I can see how your payments are the same, because if you financed the warranty along with the car then the refund check will just go towards paying off the car. Like making a few extra payments. It will shave some time off in the end.
Wheels 02-07-2005, 08:04 PM there is no set price. The dealership has a set price and there is an MSRP just like on your car. So yes its very well that someone can under sell it.

Yes, any authorized Subaru dealer can sell you one. I think their cost is around 50% of the MSRP.
