I know this has been posted before but when I did a search I could not find an answer to my question.

can anyone help me by telling me or connecting me to a post that describes how to wire up the control unit so the gauges don't come on when the key is in accessory mode? I've read that if it is just wired to the clock then the gauges are on in accessory mode and beep because they aren't getting a signal.

If this is not true can anyone help me clarify the best way to wire up the control unit?

Thanks in advance

I believe it is the cigarette lighter. I'll have to verify it.

I do know that when I have my spotlight plugged into lighter the radio and clock will not turn off when I turn off the engine and remove the key.

The only time you would get annoyed by the Defi Oil Pressure warning alarm when your car is off(say, just listening to your stereo) would be if you wired the REMOTE power line(not the CONSTANT HOT "memory" power line) to the clock. If you use the cigarette lighter as your remote power lead, your guages will only turn on when the factory guage cluster is on. And if for some reason you like to have your car's ignition in that position for extended periods of time, just hit PLAY on your Control Unit then hit "<<" or ">>" to get your guages into replay mode and essentially put them on pause.

BTW, the reason why your Oil Pressure Guage only blinks and never causes a warning alarm to occurr is because your oil pressure sender isn't hooked up. The CU knows what sensors it does and doesn't have.

Connect the control unit ignition wire to the car's ignition harness.
