Okay, well my girlfriend just spent an incredible amount of money on some 05 sti headlights for her 04 wrx. she just wanted them for the black style housing. so i have the hid set up. i tested them and they both work fine. i plan on installing thee on my gc8. i wanted to know if i would need a relay before the hid module. i am giving up my high beam for now, but plan to wire some high bemas through an additional set of foglights if i need them. can anyone be of any help, cause all it is is 2 wires, power and ground, and i need to retro fit them to my headlight on the gc8. can anyone provide any type of install help, im confident in the wiring, im an mecp certified install tech. but i just cant determine whether or not i need a realy before, subaru doesnt say it has one in the schematics i've seen. any help would be greatly apprecaited, thanks.

given the increased amperage, i'd highly recommend using a 35A relay.q

I guess you didn't like my reply when you PM'd me this question. Either way, trying to make the STi HID bulbs work with your non-HID headlights is going to result in poor lighting...and trying to install the WRX halogen bulbs into the STi HID housings is not going to work either.

screw the wiring they are not gonna fit in the housing of a gc8 will they...they should be H1 base lights...and the gc8 is an H4.....i mean i know those are the size of the halogens for each, but ar ethe bases different for the hid's?

Aside from the glare issues, technically speaking it won't work out. The OEM STi lights use OEM-type D2R HID bulbs. You can't install those bulbs directly into halogen housings, they won't fit. An attempt to "make them fit" will result in an even more terrible light pattern than if you installed an HID kit made for that housing size, because the bulb will not be aligned properly in the housing.
Aftermarket HID retrofit kits use "rebased" HID bulbs which have been modified to fit into the particular housing, be it H1, H4, whatever.

well damn i figure you guys would be a lot more help ful, i ended up completely taking apart both sti headlights and removing all components, turns out i have two brackets off of the sti headlight that fit into my rs headlight and mount the h1 hid bulb with out and fitment issues. so now its time to show everyone up.
