View Full Version : Blue WRX at Affordable
LowNSlowNeon 02-09-2005, 10:53 PM Anyone see it yet?... I might go down there to take a test drive or something... still waiting on income tax money to come in.. so i can have a good down payment... :)
Is that a good price..? Im not sure of the mileage on it.. its a 05 wrb...looks bone stock minus the black hood thing..
http://www.lownslowneon.com/wrx2.jpg
Wes_FSTGDB 02-09-2005, 11:04 PM Depending on the mileage, but for a 2005, I think that's an awesome price. Too bad they didn't have an 05 STi sitting there lol. Most likely it came from an auction down in the lower 48.
That black thing would be a bug deflector, I believe it's an option on the WRX/STi's.
-Wes
LowNSlowNeon 02-09-2005, 11:26 PM I can do with the bug deflector.. looks okay. :)
Think I could possibly talk them down any at all?... Try to slap in the military discount thing :)
Konvict 02-09-2005, 11:41 PM Talk to Dave down there, and tell him you want a good deal on that subie. He's knocked off a small amount on every vehicle i've purchased there. He is a straight forward, no BS guy too, and he'll show you all their costs for the car, and even the carfax report, and as much info about the previous owner. I've always had a good experience down there. Especially since they don't work off comission.
Also, make sure its winterized. I did buy a vehicle there once that hadn't been, and they did it for free after I signed the paperwork.
LowNSlowNeon 02-09-2005, 11:42 PM dang I was gonna send you an aim to just throw the shiz around... hehe a local fairbanks person. :)
LowNSlowNeon 02-09-2005, 11:43 PM Also, make sure its winterized. I did buy a vehicle there once that hadn't been, and they did it for free after I signed the paperwork.
Good call.. I didn't even notice there was no plug or anything..
Wes_FSTGDB 02-10-2005, 01:21 AM Heh, that's in Fairbanks eh? And here I thought that was in Anchorage lol. Yeah Affordable is awesome, that's where I got my STi from for a great deal. Great customer service, no beatin around the bush, and they bought my TSX for the price that I wanted.
-Wes
LowNSlowNeon 02-10-2005, 01:54 AM Yep.. in squarebanks :)
yukon1 02-10-2005, 03:18 AM Yes deal with Dave, the other guys in there are kind of land sharks at their previous employment. Take the car for a test drive, and most of all take somebody with you who can be a devils advocate. Crawl all over the car, look for flood damage or accident damage. They get alot of cars from auctions down in the states, and no telling what happened too the car. Dont trust the car fax reports they are such bs.
If you really want piece of mind ask if you can have the car checked out by the subie dealership auto service company. Might cost you some money but it could really save you alot in the long run.
Dan

agreed, no one will point out a mod or problem like the dealer. Plus the dealer could tell you if they sold the car or not too. good luck!
LowNSlowNeon 02-10-2005, 03:06 PM Well I'm not too fond of the local scooby dealer.. but I will crawl all around it and etc...
(scooby dealer basically chewedm e out saying since Im 18 I shouldnt even consider a WRX , etc....got a long lecture from the oompa loompa sales lady)
:)
Thanks for the advice guys.
So $22,900 is a fair price... it's an 05 so I assume it cant have more than 20k on it...
I want to try and get them down to like $21 flat or something...
yukon1 02-11-2005, 02:57 AM On a 05 wrx it will probally be pretty hard too get the price down. But you can try. Very popular right know and they will say they wont have any problem selling it at the asking price.
dan
LowNSlowNeon 02-11-2005, 03:06 AM Yea I've seen a crap load of them be moved through affordable :(
Sucks.. hehe...

Your STI might have been own by a Doctor from Prov once upon a time ago...I may be wrong :D
BTW is this WRB WRX a 5spd or auto?
AK_2002_WRX 02-11-2005, 11:17 AM try here in anchorage sometime if you don't have any luck up there. i've seen quite a few WRXs on used car a lots. they are the 02-03 ones though. are you lookin for an 04+?

Actually Wes' sti was shipped up from the lower 48. The black one that hung out at providence was that dad of a fellow board member uh.........cant remember his name, but he has a wrb wagon.
AK SloPok 02-11-2005, 02:59 PM Why not just buy a modded out 03 WRX (Blue) with lower miles from a person who you know (kinda)? Just thought I would throw that out there, besides it would be cheaper and you could either part out the mods or I could de-mod and give you a fair price. Sorry for thread hijacking...

Yeah, he's right. My car came up from Portland.

Maybe....that sunfire in the back used to be parked in the lot @ Bassett everyday.
LowNSlowNeon 02-11-2005, 09:46 PM No one wants that damn sunfire.. lol... it needs to be set on fire..
But I'd rather buy a somewhat virgin wrx... as I have plenty of mods to put on it already and I don't want one that used and abused... :)
SQUAD_907 02-11-2005, 10:17 PM I don't want one that used and abused... :)
then i'd buy new!
LowNSlowNeon 02-11-2005, 10:21 PM I mean.. I don't mind a used one.. as long as there are no signs of modifications on it.... (small stuff is okay but cold air intakes , etc...something to let me believe he ran it hard)... I hear you have to baby the 1st to 2nd shift... and whos to say that person did?.... I don't want a WRX and then 5000 miles later the tranny goes south.... even when Im babying it. :) :)
That 05 looks rather new... and being an 05 I'd imagine it can't have an excessive amount of miles on it... I will check it out though... probably tonight or tomorrow.
02blackdub 02-11-2005, 11:55 PM Go to auto service talk to george he's a salesman hella cool he even let me and my girlfriend test drive it by ourselves back in 02 check there and see if they could give you a deal on a new one. nothing like getting that new car smell, plus its nice knowing that only you owned it.
LowNSlowNeon 02-12-2005, 12:45 AM How much are the new ones going for though.. I cant really afford anything over $400 payments..
SQUAD_907 02-12-2005, 01:06 AM How much are the new ones going for though.. I cant really afford anything over $400 payments..
put a decent down then u won't have to much...
Konvict 02-12-2005, 01:08 AM Check with Credit Union 1. I just refinanced my loan $19k at 4.25% interested. Knocked my payments down to $350 from $420.
AK USA also has 4.25% interest rates.
LowNSlowNeon 02-12-2005, 01:09 AM Konvict,
I have 0 Credit.. but I can get a co-signer with ok to decent credit.... and putting $6,000 down.. what kind of interest rate do you think I could get?.. I could buy one if I was in the lower 48 but up here I think they want more... Could I get away with a new 05 wrx for $25,000?... (No options)
00Maddog 02-12-2005, 01:10 AM I'm probably worst case senario for financing, I paid zero down, at 72 mo's I pay 410 a month. I enjoy the fact that only I have owned it, and worked on it ;) I could refer you to a salesman in anchorage that would hook you up, and the drive home would cut down the waiting time on break-in. We prob. have 20 wrx's to choose from, lots of colors and options.
LowNSlowNeon 02-12-2005, 01:14 AM Depending on price... that wouldn't be a bad idea.... I want a 05 white.... i dont care for options.... if the price is lower than what I can get here (considerably) then I'd do it for sure...
I have $6,000 to put down.... I want to pay for 72 months.... I want to get a decent interest rate so I can get $300-$375ish payments..
yukon1 02-12-2005, 03:50 AM What you want too put down and for how long you could get a sti for 420. a month.
If you can get a co signer you could get a 05 wrx fro around 380 to 400.
dan
yukon1 02-12-2005, 03:51 AM Just go in and talk too a credit union they have good rates and they can work with you. Go too mac they deal with military mostly and they have good rates.
dan
LowNSlowNeon 02-12-2005, 04:55 AM yukon, im thinking i can get a 05 wrx for cheaper than 400 a month... if i put 6k down.. and have a good co signer.. i figured id get a decent interest rate..*shrug* Who knows...
Whats "mac"..?
I'll goto AK USA on base and talk to them some..
psylas 02-12-2005, 11:21 AM Check with Credit Union 1. I just refinanced my loan $19k at 4.25% interested. Knocked my payments down to $350 from $420.

How long ago was this? cuz our current rate (akusa) is 5.75 or 5.6 if you apply online...lownslow shop around for rates and stick to one bank/credit union so your credit report doesnt get pulled everywhere...

Exactly, I put $5,000.00 down, financed it for 60 months with a co signer(unfortunately I didn't have my tsx long enough so the banks wouldn't finance me all alone) and I pay 420 a month.
-Wes
02blackdub 02-12-2005, 03:13 PM 420 a month thats a good number wes :) and with 6 G's down it would be like 433 for four yrs though thats what i did but i put 5 grand down , but they can work with you too just go and try thats what i did and ended up buyin one. go to the www.subaru.com and go and check inventory of all of alaska and maybe you can find a white one
jeff
LowNSlowNeon 02-12-2005, 04:16 PM Yea, Im going to do 72 months... and if I come up with money I'll pay more than what Im suppose to each month.
$6,000 down.
72 Months
HOPEFULLY a good interest rate.. (no credit but I have someone with decent credit willing to co-sign)...
On my Neon I bought it when I was 16.... so my mom had to put it in her name... she has crap credit so I got a 12% interest rate.. :( :(
On a $25,000 car (assuming I can get a 05 for that)...with $6,000 down... 72 months and with a decent interest rate.. it could be as low as $319 a month or so... Im thinking..
AK_2002_WRX 02-12-2005, 05:18 PM if you get a new one here in town, chase has a good interest rate...its like 2.9 and i'm paying like $470 a month on mine
Wes_FSTGDB 02-12-2005, 07:12 PM Was there anything wrong with the 2005 blue WRX out at Affordbale in Fairbanks? If it has low miles and nothing is wrong with it why not take that one?
-Wes
LowNSlowNeon 02-12-2005, 07:55 PM Didn't ask them about it yet.... I would really just rather have a new one... $23,000 for that used one... or $25,000ish for a new one?.... I'd rather pay the extra for the comfort.
Wes_FSTGDB 02-12-2005, 08:23 PM Didn't ask them about it yet.... I would really just rather have a new one... $23,000 for that used one... or $25,000ish for a new one?.... I'd rather pay the extra for the comfort.
Heh, yeah I guess you're right. Well go for it man and good luck with the purchase. I'd try to get one with a sunroof. I liked that feature a lot when I was in the market.
-Wes
AK SloPok 02-14-2005, 07:27 PM Ok so I might be pushing the idea a bit but my car is better than the 05 at Affordable and I would sell for less than 20K with the parts. I am sure you could part out many things and get back about 2K so call it a purchase price of 18K. Finance only 14K (20K-6K), a bank will loan on an 8K mile WRX for 14K for a much lower rate than an 05 WRX. Not to mention the fact that you might even lower your insurance due to having a car that is a couple of years old. I will get off my soapbox… aka sales pitch now.

bump for chad's car...and bugeyes own! :D
Big-Sexy907 02-14-2005, 09:01 PM Chad, I can trade you half a Big Mac and some fries for your car... LOL
LowNSlowNeon 02-14-2005, 09:42 PM No bug eyes for me.. I already have bug eyes (04 neon)... plus I want a NEW car.. not a modded car that has been ran hard by someone other than me. :) :)
Not saying you don't take care of it.... I'm not even interested in that blue on at affordable anymore.. I want a brand new one. :)
AK SloPok 02-15-2005, 07:31 PM I was just saying, that I kinda wish I would have waited to buy a used one that you dont have to pay depreciation on. I totally know where you are coming from and I wish you the best of luck. I know it can be tough getting the car you really like at a price you can afford. Hell I was 28 before I bought my first brand new car (WRX).
I am just player hating... but I would have been the man in a new car when I was 18, mullet and a new car... daaaaaaammmmnnnn hot!
I am planning on making the run on Sunday so I look forward to a new member of the WRX/NASIOC family. You will only love the Scooby life...
Chad
LowNSlowNeon 02-15-2005, 09:41 PM heheh I had my first car when i was 15.. hand me down dodge stratus.. i hated it so i started working at age 15.. bought my Neon at 16... and I bought a CRX and it has a JDM B16A in it.. pretty quick... sold that last week... and now i want to get rid of the Neon and get into a WRX...
