View Full Version : How do I actually tap a fuse for gauge install?

Ok... So I searched around and I have enough information to know how to mount/install my gauge and what fuses that I need to tap into to get my desired power. But, I am not sure exactly how to tap the fuses. I am going off of this picture from Quantum Racing (http://www.quantum-racing.com).

What exactly are those connectors? Do I pull the fuse out and just attach the wire to one side of it? TIA.

get one of these:
http://www.partsexpress.com/images/071-580m.jpg

It's called an "Add-a-circuit" for ATC mini fuses.

What it does is bring the terminals out of the voltage rail in the fuseblock and maintains one fuse for the existing circuit and then adds a completely new circuit with its own fuse. The wire coming off it is the +12v and then your ground for the circuit will be at the device you're powering (just bolt a wire to the chassis somewhere).

Schweet... That looks perfect. Thanks!

Would it be a bad thing to run a couple of these off the fuse box??

Mike

....no....but keep the current draw down.....and if you need more than a couple, you are likely trying to wire something wrong, anyway....

I use one of these for my TurboXS TunerPro and one for an illumination tap to my driving lights relay switch.

Thanks! :)

PepBoys has these but it seems as though they are special order only. Does anyone know a store in the LA area that might have them in stock?

Thanks guys! Just picked 'em up from Autozone... $6.99 a piece. Cheaper then PepBoys and I didn't have to order them.

i was looking at the OEM boost gauge install and there's a power source from the radio (2P connector).

i have a greddy that i want to install with this application, just not sure on how hook it up without the harness.
