View Full Version : Autocross Results
Red-Impreza 07-15-2001, 05:17 AM OK boys and girls. Post 'em if you got 'em!
Mine was 43.970 s. Fastest Subaru time by about a second and I think it's 1/10 off of 1st place in STS. We'll have to wait for the official results.
...and a great showing by the new people. Everybody ran respectible times and we had 7 or 8 Imprezas in the event.
Well done all!

Tainted 07-15-2001, 05:48 AM I like auto x
God that was soooooo much fun!!
I think my best was a 46.314 s. can't really remember
When do the official scores come out?
Thanks to all of you for turning me on to this wonderful sport!!
Oh and good job on all the Subie runs!!
It figures that Bud'd be the first to post--
****show-off!
I either ran a 22 or a 52; wasn't really tracking the time...It's how you play the game, right?
OK, it was a humbling experience, but I'm glad I showed up (and had great fun).
Good suby turn-out (I do believe 8), maybe more next time. Might surpass the miatas.

Big-G,
Don't hate me because I'm fast. ;) Hate me because I'm an @ss hole. ;)
All,
It's almost impossible to be fast your first time out. (Although that's a pretty impressive first effort by Tainted.) I was bottom of the pack most of my first season and dead last in one of the divisionals. The only help for it is practice, practice, practice.
Of course, I'm still grinning today. I really thought Mike had me when he turned a 44. We seem to be pretty closely matched. It could just as easily have gone the other way (and may next time). This is REALLY some good racing; neck-in-neck, back and forth. It doesn't get anybetter then that in F1.
-Bud
kastle 07-15-2001, 03:38 PM Yup, and @sshole who hasn't donated to the club yet.....
I enjoyed the autocross, I always do. Well done to everyone who ran their cars.
Those who didn't: Be courteous or go away. You just took the smile off my face with your political trolling.
This is an autocross thread, and although I like all the members of this club individually, this is really indicative of the way azscooby has begun... I really dislike the way you are going about organising it, so I think I'll stay out of it now.
Dave (47 and a bit seconds bone stock)
vividracing 07-15-2001, 04:11 PM Sorry I did not get to see you guys last night. I finally finished by Greddy Boost Control installation at 10PM. Without even showering or eating, I drove at 52psi, J/K, down to the track. I spotted, Ron(522), Bud's car, GDog's car, Tainted's car, and 2 other Impreza's. I sat and watched a couple of runs and left about 11pm. I think you guys were working the track. Anyways, sorry I did not get to see you guys but will hook up next time.
Thanks
Red-Impreza 07-15-2001, 05:50 PM Dave,
It's cool Dave. Kastle's been footing the bill on his own, so he's just a little impatient. We all just need to let it go a little.
BTW: Nice showing on your first event.
Vivid,
Did you pull up along side the course? I think I saw a blue WRX there for a while. I wondered if it was one of us.
-Bud
vividracing 07-15-2001, 05:52 PM That was me. I walked around for about 30minutes and did not see anybody.
One thing the inimitable H1 didn't mention was that his lovely new wife rode next to him each run.
I think his secret intention was to get her to support his desire for new tires, etc, but it was still a touching moment...:p
geren
congrats to Tainted, too. Much better than your buddy out there.
kastle 07-15-2001, 07:41 PM Sorry that you didn't like me talking to Bud in this thread Dave. I won't talk to Bud or anyone else in any threads as to not offend you. Sorry.
Sorry Dave, we can't allow that in a thread about Autocrossing
slidewaysmike 07-15-2001, 08:58 PM I had a fun time last night. We had a pretty healthy turnout of Subarus. Even a few who never really post here. I met a couple from Peoria with a Silver 4-door. They were pretty cool. They both drove, so I'm sure they had a good time.
My best time was a 44.1 something, so it was pretty tight between Bud and I.
For anyone who didn't see it, Bud ran 2 runs in the mid 45s or so, then he really threw the smack down on his 3rd and final run. Improving by 1.5 seconds. Great stuff.
Also, Bud, if you have your Pylon Press from the last event, you will notice that the guy who beat us (Mark Eddy) finished in 6th place last event. So that is good for the points. The guy who I thought was going to be the toughest, (David Rock - In the Celica) was second last event. So if we play our cards right, and get another strong showing in August, we could go 1-2 for STS. Picking up where we left off in NV3 :):):)
On a sad note, if you stayed late, you also may have witnessed the atrocity of Firebirds horrid emergency response.:(
Briefly: After all run groups were done, we were cleaning up, and the drags were still going on next to us. Well a pretty fast car got something wrong, and went through the traps at 162 mph, and then wrecked. The car was on fire, and it didn't appear that anyone was getting out. It must have sat at the end of the strip just burning away, with a person trapped in it for like 30-45 seconds before anyone even got to it.:( Really bad. Then when the fire department finally showed up, and the ambulances, they had no clue where to go or how to get onto the strip, so they drove around on the skidpad and wasted more precious seconds. I didn't stay much after that, but from what I understand, they had the "Flight For Life" come out also. Hopefully he is going to be okay.
Anyway, it was good seeing everyone, hope to see you all at the next one.
Mike
AZ-GT 07-15-2001, 09:19 PM Wow, that really to bad. A tough reminder how dangerous motorsports can be. I hope whoever they are their okay.
jeddy 07-15-2001, 09:50 PM Apart from the burning dragster, i had a blast again this time. Sorry if i didn't get to meet anyone, i was trying to get footage and make it back home so i could get up and go to Sierra Vista this morning. I got some runs from run groups a-d, which i'll post sometime soon, i have to trick my crappy video software into letting me get it from my camera, hehe.
Anyway, i can't recall my times at the moment (i _think_ i did a 45.3), but i do recall almost getting lost my first run, and taking exactly the wrong lines thru both slaloms, woo! At least i scrubbed off a lot of tread on those re92s this weekend, they'll get replaced soon i guess...
Red-Impreza 07-15-2001, 11:13 PM Mike,
Yeah! I like that idea. Let's repeat last season with a 1-2 (me in 1 and you in 2). :D :D :D
Just imagine when we get 4 or 5 of us at the top of a class. We've got some good drivers in group who are still stuck on RE92's. Wait until they get good tires.
Jeddy,
If you turned a  45.3 on RE92's  we're all in trouble when you get some good tires. Nice job.
All,
The dragster crash was a very bad scene. I've never seen a car burn like that one. (With the exception of Petter Solberg's car at one of the last WRC events). The first truck from the Firebird crew was there pretty quick, but the car was already burning very badly. The city fire trucks were at the raceway in something like 2 minutes, but then (like Mike said) they went in the wrong gate and drove around the skidpad for 5 minutes or better. Somebody really screwed the pooch on that one.
I hope the driver was OK (although I have doubts that he survived at all). Kinda' makes our petty squabbles seem insignificant.
-Bud
AaronB 07-15-2001, 11:35 PM Congratz on the good times all!
I wish I could have been there. :(
I also wish I could have had my car ;)
Sorry to here about the dragster, very bad news. :(
Aaron
I sucked last night, I think I got a 47.3. I didn't feel too good on the track, I got lost the first run and still didn't fully know the course until my third run. Still fun though, and I think I have figured out my car a little better. Besides new tires, which won't come till this 92's wear out, I think I may do the rear swaybar thing, I was really feeling the understeer last night. Sorry I missed everyone when I left, but you were all on course or driving.
later
ron
Oh yeah, thanks again to Tainted for helping me out when I Jammed the valve stem on my rear tire.
gamerxe 07-16-2001, 01:15 PM Hey all,
If you guys look at the standings, you will notice that jeddy is brother to m. eddy. He has only three events under his belt. He will probably be faster than me (m.eddy) when he gets it together.
Later
