Hi, so how many of you have actually done this mod? how long did it take you?

did you just grind the metal plate flat, or did you grind it flat, and raise the other side to create a rising cutoff beam pattern that rises to the passenger side?

I shure wish it was legal to castrate anyone who imports the damn JDM lights.

Not only do you have to grind teh plate, but you have to shim it back down, too.



....and FAR-FAR too many peeps don't bother to do anything to them and blind oncoming traffic with the kiddy lights.


EDM lights are the best way to go.....no ******* with them.

I really want to get a set of the JDMs, pop them open, and retro fit Mercedes, BMW, or Audi (or possibly s2000 or Evo) projectors in there. I'd prolly be happier with those than my set of EDMs. :)

Not only do you have to grind teh plate, but you have to shim it back down, too. . .EDM lights are the best way to go.....no ******* with them.Personally, I ground flat (and shimmed) my EDM's because I ****ing hate the rising cutoff on the right side - your vision would never be quite deep enough on the left and on the right you'd still be blinding people when you're on the freeway in anything but the far right lane. The cutoff rise is just too extreme.

Not necessarily just Hellas. Look on HIDplanet.com (http://www.hidplanet.com/forums) and you'll see with a little work and "elbow grease" you can fit different types of projectors (Valeo ECE or DOT, Bosch, Stanley, Zkw, Kioto) into different housings, given you have enough room to do so. I know the s2000 projectors, which are made by stanley/kioto (I believe the earlier ones use projectors made by stanley, while the newer s2ks use kioto) run a bit larger than other projectors so that might not be possible in an STI housing. I just mentioned s2k projectors above because a lot of people do use them in retrofits it seems like. After seeing some of the crazy retrofits on HIDplanet, I think anything is possible. :)

yea i want to put some hid projectors into some jdm's too. Does anyone know what kinda projectors are closest in match with the sti projectors? (Hella 90mm)?
