Recently bought my first Subaru at Glassman in Southfield becuase of unprofessionalism at Hodges. I did quite a bit of research before buying my WRX, got quotes from area dealers and then brought the information to the Hodges which is walking distance from me. I actually agreed to pay above what I was offered elsewhere to be able to do business with the local dealer. When it came time to talk about my trade-in, we agreed upon a price that was reasonable after they low-balled me at first. It wasn't an actual offer, he said he had to find a buyer (auction, dealer, who knows) Then I never received a follow up call. I stopped in, the guy apologized and said he owed me a call, I waited a couple of days and walked into Glassman. I drove out 45 minutes later with a car that came with more options at a cheaper price. I'm happy because I got a better car, but I'm disappointed by Hodges. I've heard good things about them, but now I don't know if I should take my car there for service. My main complaint is that they wasted my time. If they couldn't come through with something, they should have told me.

I was pretty surprised about Hodges as well, I'd heard nothing but good things on this board about them. The guy at Hodges was Chuck, and the guy at Glassman was Brian Denryter.

After I bought my WRX, I did call the sales manager to inform them they lost the sale and why. Oh well - I love the car, which is the most important thing.

Whats your name?

I am going to have to have a word with Chuck in the morning. I am service, so I cannot explain how or why this happened but I will at least bring it up.

My name is Jeff, I'm sure he'll remember me I came in with a 2001 VW GTI. I have to tell you at the time I was pretty pissed the guy wasted my time, I took the time to get competing quotes and since I was set on buying from Hodges, he was the only person I brought all competing information to. When I showed him everything I had, he said he couldn't match Glassman's price and would have to go (I believe) $400 above. Looking for a long term relationship (I live next to Western Market on Nine Mile) I actually agreed to pay more. They offered me $5k for my trade in which was way less than I wanted. We looked up information on my car and agreed that it was worth at least $7k as a trade in. He said he would look into it, but I didn't get a call. I stopped in a couple of days later, he apologized and said he owed me a call. After that I never heard from him. I then went to Glassman where they made me an offer and I took it. I'm guessing that he couldn't get the trade in for my car, which if that was the case, I don't think it's too much to ask for a call saying so.

I actually went in to meet you and the service manager at Hodges. I had been doing quite a bit of research before I bought my WRX, and coming from a GTI, 20vturbo.com and vwvortex, I know how important these message boards are. Hodges was well spoken of (at least service wise), and thought that I would do well shopping where staff are entusiasts.

I appreciate your interest, and I'll be coming in for my first oil change. Hopefully if you're around I'll introduce myself.

The service guys at Hodges are great. I wouldn't hesitate about taking my car there at all. They're very honest and professional.

I can't speak much about the sales department though. I haven't really dealt with them, and I don't like sales people in general.

due to the horrid dealerships in IL in regards to sales/service I took my car to to Hodges to rebuild my spare trans with an RA gearset. i have nothing but good things to say about Hodges service. Ben and the group are great.

talk about out of my way, huh (400 miles)?
...but well worth it!
