jugger - The JDM WRX motor has stronger internals :) I'll check on the used turbos.

jmanny152 - You would need the wiring harness and ECU. For emmisions, you should still pass as long as you still retain all of your cats.

Chris - No, it does not come with exhaust manifold/uppipe. Sorry, no V8 ECUs for sale.

moss - There are used ones for sale on here sometimes. For the wiring harness, you can use the USDM one from any Subaru dealer but you'll have to add a few wires to use AVCS. Good luck.

I'm pretty sure they have AVCS on the ej205 there as ebeck suggested. I think I see the oil lines in the provided photo. Not sure about the internals.

Yep, STi and WRX do not have the same internals. Subaru started that back in the 90's. Why buy ans STi if the WRX has the same motor? I am certian it is the same internally as ours. But the AVCS makes it substantially better motor. I would be all over it if I was a VF34 kinda guy!

Ok, so I guess my question is, what is the difference betwen the v8 JDM STI engine, and the v8 JDM wrx engine? If both have forged internals, both have AVCS, both can rev to 8k rpm what is the big advantage of one over another? And I thought if you ran a usdm ecu with a jdm engine the avcs would just default to high lift ?

-JDM wrx motor does not have forged internals
-JDM wrx motor does not rev to 8k
-JDM STI motor does not have forged pistons
-AVCS does not change "lift"... it changes cam timing
-There really isn't such a thing as a "ver8 JDM wrx" motor, the term "version" is synonymous with the STi.
