Just curious about this. It is a known fact that the IHI series turbos seem to suffer from boost creep once a higher flowing aftermarket exhaust is installed. Just curious if anyone has attmepted or if it is possible to run an external wastegate w/ the vf39. I know deadbolt can weld the flapper shut but what else would have to be done? Just curious.

You would need an uppipe with a flange for a wastegate. Then you would also need to fabricate a dump tube for the wastegate gases. You can actually buy an uppipe for what you want from Ultimate Racing. It is $300 for just the uppipe, and $600 for the uppipe with a Wastegate.

You know, porting does not sound like a bad idea! I was just curious about it all. Hell after all the money spent to convert I could just run the td06/20g and be done with boost creep issues.
