ok guys heres the thing , i put new 100w bulbs in my fog lights and before the swap they were working just fine(swap to hids) now heres the screwy part 2 nights ago i went to turn then on and my high beam indicator on the dash came on and the light in the fog light switch was dimmer than normal, now my hid's have been working fine its just the foglights, now they don't work at all and i checked the foglight fuse it was fine, any ideas what it may be , planning on pulling the bulbs out to see if they popped but i'd realy like to know why the highbeam light came on when i pushed the foglight switch in,any help would be appreciated and thanks.

Quite possibly a ground issue-where did you mount the new lights?

are you talking hid's or the 100w bulbs?

If you replaced your existing bulbs with larger replacements the relay could be acting up also. Go back to original equipment and try that.

check wiring on connectors to bulb. 100w get hot real fast in the stock location so hopefully nothing fused together.

well i pulled the car into the shop today and pulled the headlights out again and checked the wiring and it was ok and then i pulled the the foglights out and everything looked good aswell , heres the thing i hit the switch and there working again but the highbeam light is still on and the light in the switch won't come on and i noticed today that if i hit the highbeams on while my hids are on the fogs go out as usual but when i turn them off the fogs don't come back on, so i'll give the stock size bulbs a shot and see what happens and if that don't work i'll try something else.

I had something similar happen to a headlight and I'm sure it can happen to a fog. I had higher wattage bulbs which caused the wiring to melt and short out. The connector behind the bulb melted and fused to another wire. Result: light was dimmer, high-beam indicator on but dim, fog light indicator on. By the sounds of it, I'd say you have a shorted wire. Start visually checking and have someone watch the light while you massage some wire bundles. If the light goes out then you found the area. Last resort, get a multimeter.

The extra wattage of the HIDs might be overloading the fog light relay, causing it to actualy fuse itself together. I'd have to consult the schematics, but I suspect the problem is the relay(s) can't handle the current.

thanks guys for the input on this , i'll try putting stock ones in and see what happens and if it still happens then i'll start tracing the wires back to the relays and see what that tells me
