First time subie owner here. Just curious if anyone here has had any experience with the service dept. at Perry Subaru in Virginia Beach. The only thing i have had done there is quick oil changes. I had my car looked at today and it was found that i am going to need the rear differential replaced. They said that it was covered under the warranty but they made sure to throw in that they were going to investigate whether or not it was messed up due to harsh driving or racing. I will tell you now that i do not race with my car because i want it to last me a long time. Wondering if anyone knows whether or not they are going to look at it and say i beat my car just so i have to pay for it. I am 21 so does this have to do with me being a young customer? Any feedback would be appreciated.

It's not you or your age, it's a SOA thing. If you haven't been modifying your car, have no fear. The folks at Perry are fair, but have to look into this stuff due to previous owners abusing their cars.
By the way, my name is Ron and I'm the so called leader of the Hampton Roads Subaru Club.
We mostly hang out in the Mid-A forum and I'd recommend making an introduction post there: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=26
Our next meet is actually today if you are not busy. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=719384

If it comes down to replacement and they make you pay for it, drop me a PM as I can probably find you a new rear end for cheap/free from one of the locals.

Glad to hear they helped you out. I talked to Danny, the guy who worked on your car today in fact. He and I agree that your car suffered an odd fluke, nothing more.

I had a radiator leak and I had aftermarket parts on my car (BOV,uppipe, turbo back) and they replaced the radiator under warranty. They did a whole lot of testing making sure my parts (specially my aftermarket radiator cap) was not the reason for my radiator to be leaking. I'm happy with their service and I wish the sell more aftermarket products.

My oil at perry were OK, however my new Leg. GT had to have the side airbags replaced (A 45 min job per side according to SOA). It took two days and three trips to have things resolved. I'm still not sure they did the job corrrectly. I found 'spare' bolts on the floormat that probably should be holding in the airbag. Broken plastic panels that took two attempts to replace and greasy fingerprints on the headliner, etc. I really wish there was a place around that did top notch work....
