I just bought my WRX last friday and when I drove it that night I noticed that it has a bunch of water spots. The next day I tried to wash them off but I haven't been able to get them to come off. I think that the dealership sprayed the car with hard water every morning and didn't wipe it off . I have tried using soap and water, 409, rain-x, and even some lime remover (the bottle says it removes hard water buildup). But it is still there. Does anyone know off to get the mineral buildup off? Thanks.

it may be under the wax. is probably crappy anyway. strip the wax with dawn or palmolive and wash it real good. if that doesn't take it off, you may need something a little more harsh, like a detail clay or a polish. I gues you've got a black car? I used to have a black saturn, and now a BRP 01RS. looks nice, but never again. ^^ I think my next car will be white..
didn't see your profile. 2002 WRX in BRP? didn't know they did that.. ***?

Oh, I forgot to say that the buildup is on the windows and I guess my car isn't brp it is whatever the 2002 blue color is.

Try the dish soap. I bet they used that hot wax spray stuff and waxed the windows.

Ahh.. windows. that's a different matter.
use a light solution of the dish soap, and follow it up with an ammonia/water spray. That'll get em very very clean.

Thanks for all the advice. I will work on the windows in the morning and tell you what works. Today I tried using a solution made by rain-x that is suppose to take off hard water deposits and it has helped a bit but I have had to scrub a lot.
Thanks,

you can use glass polish to remove the water spots from glass. Also you can use a clay bar on the glass.

I have had pretty good luck using a paint polish like Meguires, it takes some scrubbing but not too much. I waxed the windows after to see if that helps prevent the scum from coming back. Will let you know how it works.

From what I've read on another detailing forum, a 50/50 solution of white vinegar and distilled water will safely dissolve hard water spots on both glass and paint. The only caveat is that if you use it on the paint, you should re-wax (or re-seal, depending on your car care regimen) that area.
