Hey guys as you know i would like to hear the pros and cons of the v7 and v8 motors. From what i read the v8 motors are twin scroll. The v7 has better forged pistons whereas, the v8 doesn't. My plans for my motor is to keep it stock for a little while execpt for exhaust and EM. I would like to be able to be in the 11's when i do upgrade in the future. Both Motors seem to be easy to reach the 11's with mods. Should i be concerened that newer is better or its a matter of preference. thanks

I think that Ver7 short block is more forgiving as for the stropnger internals but the Ver8 has better heads.
In the future i plan on build a 2.2 closed deck block with the Ver8 heads

You're probably better off with the version 8 motor. It's just better all around. The only thing it doesn't have are the forged pistons, but if you get to the power level where that is a problem, you're probably going to want a built block anyways. Forged pistons resist detonation better, but with a good tune it shouldn't be an issue.

Looks like you are putting this in your RS? A full Ver 6 Type R swap will get you 11s almost out of the box stock...but I am sure you guys are tired of hearing that. I will give you this tid bit, If you go Ver 7 or 8 make sure its a RA and if you want to go fast run a 5 speed. I have seen too many Ver 7,8 swaps with 400whp running 12s.

What kind of gas do you run with your V6 though? Just 92? Do you have any kind of EM?
