View Full Version : OMG!! The fastest USDM STi in the world!(I think...)
Wes_FSTGDB 02-21-2005, 03:26 AM Gadiel is freaking awesome. He has tuned the car to 591.1 WHP and it ran a 10.76@133.5  . Here's a link to the thread:

shortfuseWRX 02-21-2005, 06:43 AM esx has that beat i think.............
sam
MGAMAN 02-22-2005, 12:06 AM ESX STi runs 9.49@154 or something
00Maddog 02-22-2005, 01:00 AM esx is rwd though, not the same imo

Look at the transmission, just behind the engine:

The front suspension:

So, it is AWD. 1200hp though...quite a bit more than Gadiel's monster. ESX car also is full tube chassis, has full cf body, lenco auto tranny, etc etc. Gadiel probably has mostly stock internals, most of the stock interior, and a they only upgraded the clutch (no tranny/drivetrain mods, if I remember right), which makes his tuning atleast as impressive as Afshar's.
Need Money 02-22-2005, 02:34 AM WERD.............that sti is daily driven, unlike esx, still has all the comforts of a stock sti ie air conditioning.
BTW..........Sparky can tune better......LOL.........I got air born when Sparky was tuning my car. I wonder if gadiel can do that. hahahaha

damn links are down...sorry to go off topic but quick question for the utec users. are there any pre made maps like the cobb stage maps for the utec? I really want to pick one up but dont have a laptop to tune with. any info would be appreciated.

LoL! Sweet memories... I still say you keep the 1820 and injectors and run that map at the track. Psylas, TurboXS has base maps for each performance stage. These maps are designed to be a safe "starting point" for your tuning, but each will still produce much more power than the stock setting. I would recommend reading the classified ads in the paper and also searching for local classifieds online to find a laptop. I picked up a laptop last year that DEFINATELY isn't anything special (I'll give you a hint...it was originally made with Windows 95 on it, and now runs Windows 98) for $130. I can say that it's worth the money just to be able to tune or datalog whenever you feel, instead of finding a brave co-driver to come along. I did most of my car's tuning by myself with nobody else in the car, mostly because I didn't think I could find anybody else willing to go 100+mph that would still be looking at the computer screen at those speeds. The UTEC has the ability to save its datalogs to a Text file, so you can set it to record, drive the hell outta the car, and then stop on an offramp and read the text file, tweak your map, then repeat the process over again. WRXHackers.com has a really good tutorial about how to tune the UTEC.
00Maddog 02-22-2005, 03:32 AM I knew I read it was rwd somewhere, here's the thread. ;) real or bs??

SparkysJDMSpeedWagon 02-22-2005, 03:40 AM Yeah, I had read through that thread when it was really hot a couple months ago (i was in an internet cafe in S. Korea with nothing else to do, go figure), and there were like 5 or 6 pages of naysayers about the car since it was RWD. Many people believe that making an AWD car into a RWD drag car is just one step away from putting a carbeurated domestic V-8 in it, both with Subarus and also with the Nissan Skyline crowd (many drag shops in Australia feature TH350 and turboglide transmissions, with Ford 9" rear ends in their RWD GT-R's). However, there were quite a few comments about halfway through the thread once the shots were posted that showed the car without the body covering it. The whole in the tranny and the whole in the front suspension are for the front driveshafts, which weren't installed when the picture was taken. The front slicks are quite a bit smaller than the rear ones, mostly because of the width of the flat-four, but they are also recieving the power. The transmission and differentials don't resemble anything made by SoA or SoJ, but it is still AWD.
00Maddog 02-22-2005, 04:18 AM wonder what the gear ratios are with two different tire sizes? :D
how much faster does esx expect to go with 1200 hp??
SparkysJDMSpeedWagon 02-22-2005, 04:24 AM If I remember right, there was a discussion on the tire sizes. They were in the mid-9's with ~800hp and stock chassis, weren't they? Now the girl driver (can't remember her name) is driving that car with a few more mods on it, and Ali is driving the new 1200hp tube-frame beast. Who knows how fast it'll be
Spitfyre02 02-23-2005, 05:45 AM Is he driving that beast in the NHRA pro-stock drags or what?

She's kinda cute too. :/

The 9.49 was on their other STi iirc, which was really a 2002 WRX with the 04 fenders and lights and a fully built motor. But that was with the full stock interior and what not, no small feat.
