Hi-
I have a bit of a project going right now and I am looking for a way to make big power for short money. (Who isn't)
I am putting a complete 2004 Baja Turbo engine, wiring harness and drive train in a 2000 Legacy GT.
I work at a shop that rebuilds Subarus so parts are not really a problem....

I was wondering what an STi ECU with a VF 30 turbo, xxx tuning headers and turbo back exhaust would do for me. We have those parts in the yard and I was hoping they will work for me. My biggest concern is the ECU.... Will it work with my engine?
Any help or suggestions would be great. Thanks in advance.

its should .. be sure to get an 04 not and 05
it would be far better to have the ecu reflashed than to just swap it over

well you will also run into the problem of CELs associate with DCCD IIRC. The only other thing that pops to my head is the use of EGT in the Baja as the STI doesn't receive any signal for the EGT, therefore the STI ECU will not need that.

I agree with Jaxx concerning the ECU...just have it reflashed if you can get the Baja ECU.

Better to flash the Baja ECU?
I can get an STi ECU for almost nothing. It already makes more power then most ecu reflashes advertise........
But if it really going to be better for the car I would have the Baja ECU reflashed.

I concur with the ECU reflash. But don't you mean that you can get a VF-39 turbo? A vf-30 just doesn't flow enough for a 2.5l block. Get the STi turbo. A few Forester XT guys have done this. They take their stock engine, switch to an STi turbo and TMIC and reflash their engines...

What kind of power would the Baja motor make with the vf 30 and an STi ECU?
Should be close to the STi's stock power right?
I am only looking to be around 275 hp or so. I am going to put a ton of miles on the car and I tend to have a heavy foot. 275 HP will get me more tickets then I can afford.......
