Well last Monday I took my RS down to the dealer to get a performance alignment. They call me about 2 hours later and say "we did your alignment but we've got some bad news about your car. as we were running it along the track for the carwash, it slipped off and when the guy opened the door to jump in and stop it, the door smashed into a pole." So I went down there and talked to the service guy and he said that they are overnighting a new door and installing it. He guaranteed me that it would be done by thursday night since he knew about the driving school I was going to on Friday. I also told him about my MB Quart components in the door and he "guaranteed" me those would be installed correctly. So they got me a rental Metro to drive and called me back around 5 on thursday saying it was ready.
I went down there and the service guy said "it'll be right out, they're just putting it through the wash." I was thinking "oh great, thats how this all started" He said that they originally ordered the wrong door and had to send it back and overnight another one and they did the entire job in the one day. The car was finally ready about 2 hours after I got there and, of course, the driver's side tweeter didnt work. I told them and they basically just told me to be happy I got the car back and they'd work on it next week if they really had to. So I left and checked out the stereo myself and it turned out that they actually ripped the wires out of the tweeter and I had to re-soldier them. They also scratched up the tint on my window. But at least they didnt charge me for the alignment. I guess I'll go there tomorrow and tell them to pay for fixing the tint which they'll probably deny that they scratched...

At least they did the alignment right which made a huge improvement in handling.

Time to complain to SOA. Do a search on SOA's information. That was pretty jacked up man. I know the Bureau of Better Business is just dying to hear things like that about your dealer. Did they even offer to fix the door tweeter at all? I mean they said that you should be glad to get it back and all, but i mean what the hell they broke it, they should fix it

The guy who worked on it said something like "Bring it back some time next week and I'll mess around with it". I figured I probably knew more about the stereo than he did. I glad it was easy to fix myself.

Why complain to SOA? It sounds like the dealer's service department stinks, not the manufacturer?

Not to be a doofus or anything, but cut them some slack man. Yeah they made a couple dumb mistakes, but it sounds to me like they did the best they could to get it fixed as quick as posable so you could get to your driving school. I mean overnighting a pre painted door! Ouch$$$$! If I got a free allignment and maybe some other service or parts out of it I'd be happy. I'm sure you lived ok without one of your tweeters until you fixed it. I know it was a pain with the loaner and everything, but it sounds like they were cool about it.

You may or may not want to complain to the BBB or SOA. You should certainly call the BBB and find out if there have been complaints in the past and also consider posting on the NW forum.

Certain dealers around here are known more for denting the cars they have on the lot than anything else. Dumb mistakes? Maybe, but almost every customer (myself included) has a few dings on their car from this dealer! Lesson: go somewhere else.

I'm not going to complain about it. I agree with you jaybird, yeah I was pissed, but the service manager did everything he could to get it all fixed on time and I know it obviously wasnt his fault that it happened. I went down there today and he said they will definately pay for re-tinting the window. Between my parents and me, we have bought 3 cars from them in the last 3 years, so they try to treat us pretty well.
