View Full Version : Changing a GC sedan into a coupe

Just out of blind curiosity, would it be possible to change a GC sedan into a coupe? I assume it's very complicated, involving of course swapping doors, moving the B-pillar (if possible??) and swapping interior trim pieces...

But how involved WOULD something like that be, for say a rally shop to do?

=S2=

omg...its a god damn unibody, *** are trying for!?!?

seriously, it ain't worth it. even caged, teh frame would be shot. the body would end up snapping in multiple areas but the cage would stay intact.

I'm not tryin' for anything. If I wanted a coupe I would've bought one. I like my rear doors!!
Like I said, just blind curiosity.

Its the same goddamned uni-body!

Rear 1/4 panels,b-pillar trim bits etc......

It would be costly, but still possible and pointless.

Now a 2 door wagon on the other hand............

Yeah that'd be tough. :)

I don't understand much about the technicalities of a unibody, so I didn't know if the B-piller could be relocated rearward or not. That seems to be the biggest obstacle I guess. In my head I was wondering if, for example, the Impreza was produced with two sets of mounting spots, and the pillar was put on the forward one for a sedan, and the rearward one for a coupe. You know?

Yes, very pointless. But like I said, for whatever reason, I was curious.

With the amount of money you would spend to do it right you could probably buy a coupe :p

Nah, suicide lambo doors would be madd tyte!

You could do it the short route, weld the rear doors shut, shave off the door handles, bondo, paint and bam!

This one has a huge thing of speakers where the rear seats go...all show!! Would be a good idea to do to a wagon if you put a full cage in it, then oyu need no rear seats...hmmmm, ideas!!

That thing looks so hideous, awesome job on making it into a widebodied coupe, but the colour, the wheels, the bumper and many other things is just so so so so wrong!

Yikes.
The cow-catcher lip, colour, wheels, light covers, mirrors, euhh. Cool idea though. I bet the interior is riceriffic.

I wish I could make my wagon a 2 door :(

Hmm, there IS a local selling his wrecked (front end only) 2.5rs coupe. Hmmm

That's funny, because I so wish I'd bought a wagon. :)

I could've swapped the front bumper with the money I'd saved, picked up the RS wheels, and later done a WRX engine swap and all that good stuff. Trunks suck.
