list of cars "premiering" at the geneva auto show for Subaru. Now, it says premiering, so does that mean they are new altogether, or just new editions i.e. swiss rally edition

Interesting find, but how about:
SUBARU LEGACY 3.0R AWD "spec.B"

New 6-cylinder horizontally-opposed boxer engine and the 6-speed manual transmission already used on the Subaru Impreza "WRX STi". Bilstein shock absorbers and 215/45R18 tyres.

The 3.0R Spec B has been out there for over a year I believe, with the 6MT and Bilstein shocks (why it's called a Spec B). I'm not sure what's new, maybe the engine?

^ Stiffer shocks and suspension for the most part.

Subaru, who cares? Am I the only one drooling at the prospect of a Tata Crossover?!?!?

edit: darn, not available in the U.S. either

<- my bad :oNot really. You quoted from the Auto Salon's official list of "Premiers" but as has been observed, the Legacy 3.0R Spec B has been available in Europe for about a year. BTW, here's what FHI says about their display at Geneva:

according to this site, the B9 Tribeca and R1 are "production" debuts for Europe.

http://www.cardesignnews.com/autoshows/2005/geneva/preview/index.html

It was reported earlier that these cars were to be shown at Geneva, but there was no mention of selling the cars there. Testing the waters? For sure; but there was no mention of actually selling the cars there. So this listing is a first. I hope it's correct.

I think Car Design News is merely distinguishing between "Concept" cars and those which are (or will be) actually in production as shown. The Subaru Schweiz (Switzerland) site (Subaru's Geneva host) includes the following sentence at the bottom of their press releases announcing the the display of the R1 (http://www.subaru.ch/aktuell/news-detail.htm?id=116) and B9 Tribeca (http://www.subaru.ch/aktuell/news-detail.htm?id=118) at the Geneva Auto Salon:Über eine Markteinführung in Europa wurde noch nicht entschieden.Roughly translated: "On the introduction to the European market, no decision has been made."

BTW, Subaru's press conference at the Geneva show is scheduled for Tuesday, March 1 at 8:45 AM, which means 2:45 AM EST. I wonder what they've got to announce.

Subaru has established a web page for the 2005 Geneva Auto Salon at http://www.subaru-global.com/topics/ms/2005gen/index.html. At the moment there's nothing of interest on it, but that'll likely change after Subaru's Geneva press conference tomorrow morning.

You can really see how TINY the R1 is, with people next to it!

Anyone know what they had to say yet? I figured you would have this posted by 2:46 :)

Bump

If the showing was really at 2:45 this morning, surely someone has heard something.

Is it just me or are the front ends on the B9 Tribeca and the R1 EXTREMELY ugly? If they end up putting that beat nose on the new Imprezas I'm going to be severly disturbed. :furious:

I like it, but then again I like the Euro cars it seems to be stealing from.

Really? That is an unusual reaction most people LOVE it.
