phunkeeHomosapien 02-23-2005, 09:41 PM cant really see because of the radiator hose but the line that starts from by the cap on the engine is going to the over flow located on the opposite side of the radiator right?

bugman1964 02-24-2005, 07:02 PM in line with the coolant questions.
Im doing a ej20g swap but keeping the a/c
where did you guys mount the coolant tank when ya kept the a/c
And how many of you used bulk hose to make your hoses?
garface 02-24-2005, 07:05 PM I kept a/c and left the coolant tank where it was. Do you mean using the WRX radiator?
??
i am using the stock 1.8 radiator and coolant tank in its stock location
i used high pressure fuel line for the hose
phunkeeHomosapien 02-25-2005, 01:22 PM i have another question for you ej20g guys i have now come to just the wiring, since i wont be using any of th wiring harness from the 1.8 that goes through the firewall from the ecu would it be ok to just cut that part off to make room for the wrx harness?
ixnay on the cut anything-ay
bugman1964 03-26-2005, 05:00 PM i need to dig this one up.
i got all my coolant lines plumbed but am having some issues with the coolant.
I used the 1.8l stock radiator and cap but we just pulled the seal off the springed part to let the coolant flow into the by pass hose which we have routed to the turbo tank. but now my cap is leaking how did you guys get around this?
scoobydorift 03-26-2005, 05:12 PM My leaked like crazy, Just grab some pliers and squeeze the tabs on the cap. It will make it a tighter seal. I dont think you need to take the seal off you just need to molest that spring and the internals of the cap.
bugman1964 03-26-2005, 05:24 PM so just the ones that lock the cap down squeeze those?
yeah we didnt know if we had to tear the seal or cut the spring or what so we just took the seal off so it could seap by.
What did you guys do for the 2 lines that came off the water pump?
we mounted the rubber lines to the metal tubes off the ej20g the one that goes to the heater and then the one that crosses over the top of the block.
and wedged everything behind the timing cover with the dipstick. but i think i may have a leak there.?
i went and bought 2 new caps for a total of $9
cut the plunger off one of them
do not get a super string cap your radiator will explode

i am at a loss the only line i can think of goes to the oil cooler

You want to buy this: http://gallery17817.fotopic.net/c44643_13.html
Cut it to fit the cap like a little donut and squeeze it in there, then squeeeeze the cap on. It'll be very tight, but won't leak.
Zephyr 03-26-2005, 11:49 PM The best solution is to go to Subaru and get the second cap that goes on the radiator that is a new feature on the 03+ WRX. It is just a cap it has not spring in it. From what I understand Mazda also sells one like this for the RX7 but from what I understand all RX7 parts are quite pricey.

bugman1964 03-27-2005, 07:54 PM i fixed the radiator cap by squeezing down the ears on the cap and the other leak i adjusted a hose clamp and its fixed as well.
