Today I bought 9 gallons of winterized blue winshield washer fluid. My question for everyone who is using it for w/i is, are you using half water, half fluid, or just windshield fluid?

I used only drinking water for water injection.

I'd rather use 1/2 distilled water and 1/2 methy....then you KNOW what the mixture really is.....

...and no grimy hard water stains either.

I did a google search and found an osha sheet that said that blue windshield washer fluid was 40% methanol.

Use it full strength! It works great.
Some of the other users of W/I are leery of using the blue washer fluid, because they feel the blue dye and minimal detergents present in the fluid may clog the jets. I have been using the washer fluid for 1 1/2 years with absolutly no problems in my Aquamist 2d.

I'm glad you have no problems. I used one tank of washer fluid in an emergency. I then took apart everything except the pump on a 1S setup. The center post/spin generator on the nozel was caked with dark blue gunk. The nylon tubing was stained and also had residue buildup on the jet inlet. I also took multiple passes within the jet housing with a Q-tip and methanol and kept getting blue back.

It might have been the particular brand of washer fluid I was using, but given that there is no regulation on how much methanol and what kind of water is used (I will bet you it is not distilled), I'm not going to use it anymore.

I used to use strait washer fluid, winder formula. I am thinking of switching over to home-mixed destilled water with isopropl rubbing alcohol, probably 50/50. When i swapped out my tgv's for the RA Spec-C's, the inner walls were all coated blue, definitely from the washer fluid. I am also getting a bit weary of the other ingredients that they put in it to remove bugs and stuff, so i'd rather just mix it myself so i know whats in the mixture.
