Yeah I know but most of the guys interisted in this would be here.

I have JDM non DCCD 6mt and R180 with 3.9 FD. It is in running in my car currently. They work great however, I want 4.44 6mt and R180 now. I have said it before, no such thing as too much shifting and 4500 rpm's on the highway is puffed wheat. And I do not just say that. I would take JDM 8mt and 4.44 any day. Part due to the nature of the Ver8 motor and part due to 9 tubes of Dynamat I used.

So, anybody want to work out a swap? Seriously.....

Actually this is half of the Dynamat Extreme I used. Entire passanger compartment is done and there is no yellow in the trunk space.

I'm considering Sti Ra gears with a 4.444. I've been driven on the interstate in 4th gears at 3600-3700 RPMs to see what it's like. The total ratio is about the same. Great acceleration for a top gear and the noise isn't bad.

What effect would driving at 3600-3700 RPMs have on engine life?

Doh! My bad. No 4.44 or 4.11 in the 6mt! :( I am going to look into putting a 4.11 R&P into my 6mt. Well there were some but thety are super rare.

Actually the engines prefer to be spinning rather than being lugged at 1,500 rpm like USDM WRX's do. It will spin at 4000 rpm all day. The JDM motors especially. 4000 rpm is buttery smooth, not forced like the USDM motor. The USDM 2.0 feels like it wants to explode at that rpm. It begs to be shifted. with my Ver8, I forget my 6th gear on the hwy sometimes when talking on the phone. So smooth you just don't realize the rpm's.

With JDM mt, if it existed...
70mph with 3.9 = 3298rpm
70mph,with 4.44 = 3755.rpm

Acceleration would be bannannas.

This is for a USDM WRX 5MT.

The USDM motor does not like to spin as I am sure you have noticed. I am sure the extra spin may not hurt it as long as the oil system and cooling are in good shape. It is however, a rough motor to drive around at that rpm. The roughness causes vibration which has to wear on something. How much it affects the USDM engine I do not know.

What exactly are you asking? There are a couple local guys here with 6MTs running 4.44 final drives.

Rallispec sells the kit to make the 6 spd 4.44....but you will have more money in just your transmission then I have in my whole swap:)

DWX who is running a 4.44 6mt, I have a few questions for them.

Check out previous generation Subarus for the 4.444 gears.

I installed a set of the STi 4.444 gears on my personal STi and love them, but THIS IS NOT FOR EVERYONE.

It seems by your post you have done some research. When compared to a stock STi, the RPMs only run ~400 or so higher at any given speed. Your top speed is not compromised a noticeable amount because how often are you traveling at 157mph. I did not redline and I took my car to 155 once.

You can get a used set much cheaper than a new set and having it installed. I would not let any mechanic setup your final drive. I would make sure they are damn good if you do.

OK i am looking to do a 6mt swap to go from 3.9 to 4.44. The I was informed they did not exist. Apparently that is incorrect. They are just more difficult to find.

So, I have full JDM 6mt and R180 with 3.9. I would like the same set up with 4.44. If you happen to have 6mt and R180 BUT up with 4.44 and wish to have a 3.9 setup, let me know, perhaps we can work out a swap.

I can't foresee getting rid of my gears and going back to 3.9s any time soon. I would be depressed because that would mean giving up the monster torque I enjoy right now.

Be aware that in order to successfully upgrade to the 4.444 gears, you MUST ensure that both the FRONT & REAR diffs contain the 4.444 ring and pinion gears in the 6 speed (some 5 speeds require an additional component in the transfer case). If you fail to do this, you will cause some serious damage to your driveline.

Its not as easy as swapping out the rear axles on a two wheel drive vehicle.
