I drive twisty mountain roads at night, and its a pain in the A$$ to hit the dimmer switch in the middle of a corner when trying to upshift/downshift. I want to put the dimmer switch in the shift knob. anyone tried this or have any idea what shift knob will work? any info would be great, thanks!!

 To dim what? Don't you have more important things to worry about? But, seriously, what do you need to dim in the middle of a corner? The only dimmer I can think of is for the interior lights. Headlights maybe?

You're saying this would be handy for meeting someone in a corner while trying to shift, right?
Maybe just try to train yourself to rotate your hand on the wheel to the normal dimmer location and hold approximately there for the duration of the corner?
I'd prefer not to have another button to worry about while trying to downshift, hold an appropriate line, watch out for the other guy, worry about my headlight status, etc. Unless you wanted to tell everyone the button was for nitrous.

okay, i want the Headlight dimmer switch on the shifter. people don't really appreciate meeting a car with HIDs on high beam. the corners come real fast, left and right, so the hand position is difficult, and my right arm is always on the shifter, so it would be much easier than blinding traffic, or trying to hit the lever, just looking for some info!

Hurst make a shifter knob with a push button in it.

I don't want to sound like a lecture or a driving instructor, but you should drive with both hands on the wheel. only remove your right hand to shift, then immediately put it back. Proper hand position can be a safety precaution when driving "spiritedly" That is typically lesson #1 in any high performance driving school
if the corners are as tight as you describe, there is no need for high beams since the HID low beams will project to the apex of the next turn anyway.
be careful

I can't find a shift knob with a button for the 6spd STi trans from hurst, or anyone for that matter. I am just looking for info on the knob, not really looking for driving instructions!!
