... I realized just how much of a difference in NVH that sucker made!
I had installed my STi mount and Kartboy shifter bushings at the same time. When I took it out for a drive, I was amazed at how good the shifter action felt, but also how loud my car now was!
After not being able to stand the noise anymore, I decided to remove the mount. It turns out I gave the stiffer mount too much credit, and the Kartboy bushings not enough. My car shifts almost as well as it did before, and my car is now as quiet as a Caddy! The slight 'rubber band' feeling in the drivetrain is WAY more tolerable than the noise in my daily driver!
I'm sure I'll want to sell the STi mount, but I left it in NY this weekend after I made the swap. If anyone's interested...

Are you saying that you replaced the tranny mount and left the stock engine mount in, or you replced them both? I have heard very bad things on this board about only replacing one of the engine/tranny mounts. I have also heard that they are B!TCH to install.
If both are available, I am interested.

Derres- It's only the tranny mount. Where have you heard it's a bad idea to replace only the tranny mount or the engine mounts? It's news to me. Lots of guys/gals in here have done it.

I am totally with you on both the tranny mount and the Kartboy bushing. The Kartboy bushing gives you so much better shifting feel with no negative effect. BTW, I had the tranny mount installed and eventually sold it also. I guess I am not hardcore enough to stand the noise and vibration caused by the tranny mount.

I agree Tom's shifter bushings are a great mod...
BUT I don't see how the tiny bit of more vibration isn't tolerable from the STi mount!!:rolleyes:
It's how the car should have come from the factory in my opinion!
anyone wanna buy a stock tranny mount? hehe:p
Oh well I guess you "old guys" can't handle it hehe:lol:
