I wanted to get an aftermarket clutch and flywheel for my v4 RA tranny. I know there's a couple different Fidanza flywheels (110001 and 110221) for WRX's but I'm not sure which one fits!?

How about clutches....does a standard WRX model one fit?

Thanks

Andrew

I don't know what your current set-up on your car is or your goals for your car are. While using a stock clutch will work if you have modded your ride it will not take a beating very well. There are tons of aftermarket applications for that Tranny. To name a few and yes they are expensive are Cusco, ORC, O.S. Giken, HKS, Syms, and Bozz Speed. I am sure there are alot more that I have not named. Just remember that driving around in traffic with a tight aftermarket clutch can be a serious pain!!!

I don't know your ultimate power goals, but I was looking into this recently for my V4 R.
I concluded that the Exedy Organic street clutch would be about all I need. It is a little stronger than the stock WRX clutch and would hold well enough for the stock 300hp/260lb ft. The V4 tranny is not super strong so a heavy duty puck clutch might not be a good idea.
The Exedy is OEM like in fit and feel and nobody has much bad to say about it.
Gruppe-S has good prices.
If you want more the Exedy Hyper 6 puck comes with a light flywheel and should be pretty good. I read one experience of shudder, but more review were good.

so is this a "Yes, a clutch and flywheel for a WRX will fit the V4", thats pretty much what hes asking, im pretty sure it fits.
and the V4 tranny is the strongest for the older trannys, itll hold abuse pretty well, just cant be stupid about it.

As long as your clutch matches the flywheel and your flywheel matches the starter, you are okay. The only difference is the Legacy turbo and WRX. I believe the WRX stuff will work.

Thanks for all of the help. The main reason I am asking is that I have two brand new Fidanza flywheels...the Sub-1 and Sub-2. I'm trying to figure out which one will work with my V4 RA motor tranny.

The difference between the SUB2 and SUB1 are as follows:

-The SUB 2 is thinner.

-Overall thickness from the engine mount surface to the clutch mount surface on a SUB1 is .140" thicker. (SUB1=1.140, SUB2=1.000) This means that the engine mount to clutch surface is different.

-The engine side of both flywheels are identical.

Since the WRX uses either the Sub-1 or Sub-2 depending on the year of the WRX...I was trying to figure out which one would work on my motor.

Oh yeah..it's a rally car..and I haven't even thought about which clutch to run...but most likely it'll be a Excedy.

Thanks

Andrew
