Hello

Long time reader, first time poster.

I am going to need to pull my front seats for an amp install, and was thinking that it would be a good opportunity to mat the floor pan of the vehicle. Being an 04 model with no coffee/soda spilled on the carpet so far, am I going to have any trouble pulling up the carpet in the main area of the car to mat underneath? I am not even going to bother if it is glued down...

Thank you

Justin

AFAIK the carpet isn't glued down. It's help in by the seats, clips along the side edges, and those annoying plastic pins on the front corners and rear edge.

The carpet has a plastic lining, I'm guessing the help with moisture. IMHO it'll be overkill to mat the whole floor.

But then again I'm a big fan of overkill:)

I think your idea of using the opportunity to mat your floor (and don't forget the foam, more road noise comes from the floors than resonance, and foam cuts road noise...) is a good one. The carpet shouldn't give you any trouble. Only problem will be stopping; I went from front floor to back floor to rear seat and had to stop before I got to the rear deck...

Yes stopping is the hard part.

I did the entire floor of my wagon, and the did the doors.

And I have an 04 WRX, once the seats and console are out, the carpet just pulls up. No issues. You only need take the back bench seat out. But I matted the rear tire wells so I took everything out. Piece of cake, but very time consuming.
