Rail 03-01-2005, 11:59 PM My dealer says the 06 will only be offered in urban camouflage. SUBE555 03-02-2005, 12:10 AM Don't always trust what your dealer has to say. I'm not sure Subaru knows the exact marketing figures that will be made for MY07 at this point. StevieD 03-02-2005, 12:42 AM Today my dealer spelled out some details. The new 06 (next year ) sti will have the new grille and 320 hp. The 07 will have 345hp Sometimes you have to wonder if it's worth the time posting this stuff ;) WRC1 03-02-2005, 03:38 AM My dealer said that the 07 STIs turbos will spool at 12mph!! ~Leor scoobyRx 03-02-2005, 04:33 AM yeah, well my dealer can beat up your dealer chaddeus 03-02-2005, 04:56 AM I bet the dealers surf the net and saw some photoshop pictures of the STi and assume its gonna be that way - Charles conker69 03-02-2005, 09:01 AM LOL. Dealers hardly know anything. I ask easy questions and they have no idea what I am talking about. Dealers preaching about upcoming model years are about as useful as videogame company reps. 03STAGE2 03-02-2005, 09:31 AM In my dealership, one salesman was commenting on the STi price to a customer. The customer asked what the difference was between the STi and the WRX. The salesman told him that it was mostly cosmetic with the addition of a body kit and bigger wheels. My salesman and I just started laughing. You have to realize that the reason most car salesman work there is because they are great closers....not because they are “car” people. Nawambo 03-02-2005, 10:33 AM Aside from waiting for more information to be officially released, the best thing to do is to find a dealership salesman you know and trust, who is also a car enthusiast, and see what they know. I've got one in mind, I'll try to pass by this weekend. Ultimately, it all should be taken with the proverbial grain of salt.... Mike Wevrick 03-02-2005, 10:35 AM There's no way dealers know details of 07 models. It's also very unlikely Subaru would increase hp 2 years in a row. 320 seems plausible but its still probably BS. MTMS4 03-02-2005, 11:39 AM If they wanna stay ahead of the forthcoming Evo IX (on paper at least) they will have to bump the power somewhat for the '06 STi ;) C-daleRidr 03-02-2005, 12:32 PM My dealer said that he's a moron. At least, that's what I heard. His words were different, something about STi and horsepower, but I heard "I am a moron" over and over and over again. sasquatch95 03-02-2005, 12:54 PM what about the continuum transfunctioner? Did the dealer mention that? Jon [in CT] 03-02-2005, 01:24 PM There's no way dealers know details of 07 models. While I believe this is true, in general, I also believe there are exceptions. In particular, I believe that members (especially the leaders) of the SOA National Dealer Advisory Board are made privy to SOA's plans. The owner or president of such a dealership is the person you want to befriend and pump for information on future plans. Here's a list of 3 dealers whom I believe sit on the SOA National Dealer Advisory Board: Don Hicks, Shortline Subaru, Aurora, CO Dale Walker, Walker's Renton Subaru, Renton, WA Rick DeSilva - Liberty Subaru, Oradell, NJ ringe 03-02-2005, 04:05 PM The best people to go to are NOT the salesmen...go to the technicians! They actually work on the vehicles, and when significant changes are made that require new tools or equipment they will be the first to know. Also, some changes to a model line may require special training (many Audi dealers have to send techs to Germany to be trained in aluminum welding in order to repair colision damage to the A8, for example). So ignore the stealsmen, get friendly with an upper echelon tech there and see what he knows. secorsubaru 03-02-2005, 04:59 PM I have always prided myself in supplying accurate info when I find it out and if I do not know I do not say anything.Whoever it was here that said find a car guy and a salesmen wrapped into to one and you will have your man is right!I am a car guy that happens to sell cars and I have an interest in all cars, not just Subbies. As I make my living selling Subbies and do love the product I take great pride in my knowledge of all things Subaru.I am however very limited as to what I can say here as big brother is watching~but trust me when I say NO one yet has any real details on the 06 or 07 WRX and STi models.Even those of us in the know are in the dark right now...... Brian Oldnslow 03-02-2005, 05:08 PM Brian---From someone who is completely in the dark and certainly not in the know, here's my prediction: Subaru is going to drop the dime on their competitors in this small econo- sport sedan/wagon market, and come out with a mind boggling new WRX later this year, and they will keep it well under wraps right up until it is released. :) Nawambo 03-02-2005, 05:09 PM ^^^ Whoever it was here that said find a car guy and a salesmen wrapped into to one and you will have your man is right!
