A high pitched noise is coming from the engine bay of my car... and it has been shut off for over an hour! I noticed it when I got home from a 70-mile drive this evening (road conditions were wet and very cold).
I don't think this is normal... it's loud enough that I can hear it while I'm sitting in the car, and I can easily hear it if I'm outside.
Any thoughts as to what this can be?
I'm gonna bring it to the dealer in the AM to see what it could be.

I took my MY04 STI into the Dealer for it's 30,000 mile service last week. The next day I parked the car in the garage after coming home from work. A little later, one of my sons went into the garage and came back to tell me about a funny noise. After about 15 minutes I managed to pinpoint it to somewhere around the radiator area. It was definately a lot louder who I lifted the hood. Eventually, I started the engine and ran it for about 30 seconds, then turned it off. The noise stopped and I havn't heard it since. I figured it might have been something to do with the service.
Let us know if you find anything !

The following morning (about 6:30am) the car did not emit any noises. I spoke with my dealer and got the typical, "we can't look at it if it's not doing anything funny NOW" speech. The dealer did suggest that it was possible some water got into one of the relays and kept a given electrical component going after the car was shut off. I'm not familiar enough with the WRX's electrical system to know what stays on while the car is off...
Since then, the car has not made any noises. I'll post if I see this in the future.

This happened to me on Monday night. The buzzer was shorted out. (Its the little tweeter inside the grill that beeps when you arm the alarm). We suspect that if you are somewhere that uses salt on the roads, it can get inside it and short it out.
Went to the dealer with the part, asked them to get us a new one, figuring it was under warranty. Went to pick up the part the next day and they wanted to charge us list price for the part, $56 bucks. They said warranty didn't cover it because we took the part out ourselves and diagnosed the problem. They were just mad that they weren't going to get to charge Subaru with an hours worth of labor to snap in this stupid tweeter.
