I got an 02 wrx a couple months ago, and I have noticed that my gas mileage sucks, like 17mpg on the highway (Commuting to work). I read through a bunch of similar threads and the consesus was that people were getting better mileage during inner city driving. Any advise or comments!

How do you drive?
Any modifications to your car?
Also, winter formulation of gasoline also affects gas milage (decreases it).
For reference I get around 23 mpg with a 45-mile commute going at around 75mph - 80mph. I probably can get a little more if I slow down a little.

don't feel too bad. I get around 20mpg in southern california with like 75-80% freeway, 20-25% highway. I could also slow down...

I get 19-22mpg normally (all city) - recent trip which was mostly highway and I got 27-ish. I am at elevation, though (5k ft) so that probably lowers my mileage somewhat from what I could at sea level

Is that cruising on the highway or sitting in traffic? I'm averaging about 20-21mpg in mixed driving.

I get 19-20 mpg steadily with mixed driving in a 50mile a day round trip commute on 92 octane, even when I went to Montana and drove freeway for 12hrs I still only got 21mpg. Just drive it like you stole it and have fun!
Someone at my work said gas should be going up to $3/gal by this summer, that will kill me but it is better than driving some boring commuter :D

Just get an old beater to commute in. Then use Scooby for FUN!

I get 17mpg in my big heavy F150. Liked as previous, what kind of driver are you? Do you use name brand fuels, or Joe's corner gas. The qualities can alter mpg figures quite a bit.

Try not to go fast (high rpms) until the car is warm in the mornings. I get around 18mpg myself, but I drive pretty hard (no mods).

I get about 8mpg on the track.

That's pretty good. I'm usually at 10-11. You must be going faster than I am

here in california i have mixed driving. i get around 19mpg. just drive the car easy and never shift any higher than 3.5k. and try to take the highway as often as possible.

if u wanted to get a car that has great mileage, u should've bought a honda insight or something. WRX is a performance car, its AWD + turbo = sucks away at gas. plus it takes 91 octane minimum, and here in sunny cali that's like $2.43 a pop now.

but it's all worth it for putting a smile on your face as you take a corner at 95mph
