Last month my brother told me about the "Condensator" which is an add on device that tries to separate the fumes in the PCV system. He and I both doubt that such a device could really improve emissions and efficiency, but we can't find any data to disprove the claims made about it at various web sites, including:

http://www.discountmaniac.com/condensator-introduction.htm

http://www.commsure.com/TheSurprize.htm

and especially:

http://www.condensator.com/

It seems unlikely that an effective device would only be marketed this way, and IF it really worked that some auto maker would have included it. So where's the proof that it's just an air bleed and that it really does not work as advertised??

My own suspicion is that it might be slightly effective on old, worn out carburated vehicles.. but there's annecdotal evidence it works on newer fuel injected ones too. SO, where's the fallacy?

Looks like an oil catch can...they work bro. Hehehe, I wouldn't get that one though, dosent look very durable. I have a Cusco can, it's alum with AN fittings.

More information being uploaded May 25th, 2001.

uhhhh.

Waste of money. If you've got gobs of oil and sludge splashing up into the PCV valve then you've got problems. So basically what it's saying is that it takes gasses, spits them through venturi, blows it against a rough silica gel, then returns it to your intake? Why not just put a filter on it?

A $200 dollar catch-can. If there is enough sluge getting into the intake manifold, there's something wrong with the car, and this will just be a stop-gap fix, from what I can tell. Of course, if you want to try it and see if it really works, let us know the results, just in case all those claims are true!

I like the greddy (http://www.greddy.com/products/engineparts.htm#OilCatchTank) unit better.

I am not saying that I agree with the claim of "the condensor" but this could keep oil build up on the inside of the intercooler which would reduce efficency. I know more than a few DSM'ers that have the greddy unit installed. Works really good to keep excess oil deposits out of the intake without venting the PCV valve to open air.
