Unless steering wheel is lowered all the way, car will not start. If steering wheel is raised up, car will not start. My car has been experiencing this problem for over a year. I have no option but to drive with steering wheel at the lowest setting.

Can someone tell me what the problem is and how to fix the problem?

Thanks!

My first guess would be a faulty ignition switch.

I would look for a pinched wire or faulty wire connection. Remove the steering column covers and look around a little.

sounds like a bad connection, i'd open it up and reconnect the ignition wires to make sure you have a good connection it may be shorting b/c it gets caught on something when moved...

Did problems start after the installation of something like a remote start, stereo equipment, fog lights/headlights, intercooler sprayer, gauges, or a car alarm?

well, I have installed OEM boost gauge... will check the wiring.

Check and make sure there isn't a wire in the path of the tilt steering wheel. Probably accidently repositioned a wire under there when ya installed the boost gauge.

Sounds like somethingis grounding out when the wheel is up, def check so see if wires are getting pinched, or cut.

I think you must have a broken wire that makes a good connection when the wheel is tilted all the way down, but then separates when the wheel is raised to any other position.

I'm new to the WRX world still, but if it isn't a broken wire, then I would also suspect a worn/loose pin at the steering wheel-end of the ignition wire connection.

Yeah but---lol

...sounds like some wire(s) got pinched, and the cut ends are flexed together enough to touch at that column position. It might keep working for you forever, or someday, it might "finish" failing, and leave you stuck somewhere.
