has anyone going to try or have tried the new mobil 1 oil?
15000 miles on an oil change is a lot.

Just remember while your oil may not lose its properties it still picks up particulate as you drive. Unless they also have a new 15,000 mile super filter I would beware

yeah I would stick with the 3-4k cause no matter how good the oil is, its the filter after about 2 thousand miles...

The OEM filter is good up to 7,500 miles under normal driving conditions. Same as the oil change interval.

...it's mobil one, its the same mobil one as before, just they are now admitting what everyone here who has been sending out their oil to blackstone labs have confirmed. Mobil one can last ~20k miles on same oil (with filter only being replaced).

The "new" ones IMHO, would be the 7500 (semi- synth blend probably).

..notice, only one "product" says mobil1?

the 5k is just plain dino oil (from which synthetic motor oil is created from).

Just a marketing ploy since they didn't have a gimmic like the other oil guys.

I doubt that those running mobile 1 would be able to go that long between oil changes without topping it up ... Heck, those that change every 5K miles notice pretty good drops in oil levels measured from the dipstick. If one wanted to go that far between changes, they will find themself topping the car up a fair bit imo. Might as well just get new oil, but that's simply my opinion..

Isn't Mobil 1 a pure sythetic based motor oil? I've read else where other than just Mobil's site that says that the beauty of Mobil 1 is that it relatively inexpensive for having a full sythetic base like Redline or other premiums.

From the Mobil 1 website.
Is Mobil 1 with SuperSyn Technology a fully synthetic motor oil?

Yes, it is. To meet the demanding requirements of today's specifications (and our customers' expectations), Mobil 1 with SuperSyn uses high-performance fluids, including polyalphaolefins (PAOs), along with a proprietary system of additives. Each Mobil 1 with SuperSyn viscosity grade uses a unique combination of synthetic fluids and selected additives in order to tailor the viscosity grade to its specific application.

If you want to get technical.....Mobil has:
Mobil Clean 5000 - dino
Mobil Clean 7500 - synthetic blend
Mobil 1 - synthetic
Mobil 1 Extended Performance - synthetic

Also, Mobil on oil filters (from their website):
"If I go longer between oil change intervals, do I need to change my oil filter more frequently? Or do I need a special filter?

Continue to change your oil filter when you change your engine oil. Special filters, or more frequent oil filter changes are not required.

However, Mobil 1 Oil Filters provide outstanding performance during longer oil change intervals. Mobil 1 Oil Filters are designed to offer excellent efficiency (remove more engine oil impurities) and high capacity (60 percent greater capacity than conventional oil filters), which make them ideal candidates for longer oil change intervals."
