So I went down today to get my oil change at the dealer(Irvine Subaru), only because Im supposed to get free oil changes for the life of the car. Otherwise I would just go somewhere nearby. The first oil change I got at about 3700 miles was free and they washed the car and everything, I did wait like 2 hrs but I didn't make an appointment. Anyway this time I go in I made an appointment for 11:00 so I think ok I should be out of here in like 45 min. They take an hour and a half which was longer than expected but I was like watever. So im signing the form and apparently they have changed the policy for my "free oil changes." They are charging me tax on every free oil change, and I can only get one free oil change per 7500 miles. The first one was "complementary" so no tax on just the 1st one. Also no car wash this time either. When I bought the car from Jeremy it was simply "free oil changes for the life of the car." Its not a big deal I mean its just an oil change, but I'm just annoyed that they are weaseling out of it on only my 2nd one. I know other dealers who offer the same package start to flake out after a couple yrs, but they are doing it already. I guess its better than them just saying no more free oil changes ever though.

The oil changes are free to all Subaru customers who purchase there Subaru from us. This is somthing we do over and above any other dealers. Your Subaru manual state your oil changes need to be done every 7,500 miles.
The tax and hazard waste is due by the customer California law and industry standards. Please make a appointment since we are under construction making 15 new bays for faster service. We are not trying to get out of anything. I am sorry for the misunderstanding.

Oh didnt notice u replied in the thread. SN=screen name. I did make an appointment, but the 1:30 hr wait is not what i was disappointed in. Its just oil changes, and like I said before its better than nothing. I guess I should wait and see if 1 oil change per 7500 miles lasts till the life of the car. It's still pretty impressive then, Im just saying since most dealers cancel it after awhile with an excuse I was expecting atleast 1 or 2 yrs before any hassles would occur.
Irvine Subaru is great! Deseree and Carlos are awesome to deal with. You feel really comfortable walking into the dealership cuz it's super friendly serivce from the moment you are in there 'till u walk out! They gave my friend and I great prices white on STi and WRX's last year! Keep it up guys!

I recently bought a WRX from them and was very pleased with them. It was the best car buying experience I have ever had. I would recommend them to anyone considering a new vehicle (or relatively new one)!

That wasn't the point of the thread but okay. Like I said I had no problems with purchasing the car everything went smoothly. It was just after where I was hassled. It's not the money that bothers me, oil changes aren't very expensive, it's the principle.

I've heard nothing but good things from people who have purchased cars from Irvine.
However, there seems to be some serious problems within their service department in terms of treating customers who are, say, less than 30yrs old and drive WRX's/Sti's. I've had horrible treatment there, which seemed to me to be due to I'm young and own a WRX. I've since not gone there because it happened on at least 2 occasions with different people. Since I haven't been there in a year and a half, things might have changed.
