reposting this with new title.......

The AZScooby / ScoobyMods Team is looking for some help. But this time, we aren't looking for mods.

The site is run by enthusists for enthusists, like AaronB has stated in another thread today. We, the AZSCooby / Scoobymods team, want to continue to document as many mods for related Subaru vehicles as possible. But from a financial standpoint, we are having problems making ends meet.

So we have 2 choices.
1. Start a banner program with some paid advertising going on all pages on the site.

or

2. Beg for small donations.

We don't want to do either, but are kind of forced into this. I personally don't want to do either, but sometimes we have to do things we don't want to do.

So, in keeping with that, we'd like to ask people to donate to the Scoobymods fund. We aren't looking for people to give us tons of money. But like the i-club server donation fund some time ago, we ask that people donate small amounts. We'd like to cap people at no more than $20. Any amount will be appreciated, regardless of the size.

We are asking for you to be there for us, just like we have tried to be there to help the Subaru community as either AZScooby or Scoobymods.

If you would like to make a donation, you can paypal Dannyatwork (Dan.Evander@aexp.com), our teasurer and he will ensure the money gets to the proper location. Or you can PM me and I will give you my mailing addresss.

We are very thankful to all of kind people who have donated to the club in the first thread. It is appreciated and will go a long way to help prevent the banners from showing up anytime soon.

Thanks for your time again,
kastle

(Moderators: I wasn't sure if this should go here or in Off-Topic. Since it was Subaru content I put it here. Plus I was reposting in a new thread with new title.... :))

Well if Dan Evander would stop buying 1.2 gig CPU's all the time, maybe you guys would have some money:D

I already gave a $200 dollar donation about 2 weeks ago. Ok, I'll send another $20.00

If I PayPal you $20 bucks, will you post pics of my money pit....ugh...I mean Subaru on your site?

ARG ( the old guy of the i-board)

Hey, AZ-GT, you live in Prescott???? You lucky f**k. I visited Prescott and fell in love with the scenery, climate, and local people. I wish I could live there one day but I don't think that there is much money to be earned there. Prescott is a nice place to live if you don't have to work.

I'll have to retire and THEN move there.

This message was edited because ARG can't spell worth a ****e.

May I ask, do you have a goal set for a donation fund, with a United Way style thermometer showing what % of the way you are to meeting your goals?

Larry

PS: I gave in the other post :D

ARG, yeah I like Prescott. Took me a dozen years to make the move here. So why not come out for the Prescott Forest Rally this fall?

We are at about 45% of meeting our goal. We don't ask for much. Our biggest donation has come from Kartboy. As they rule, this is not uncommon. :D

only 55% more to go.... :)

I assume you guys are running your own server and trying to upgrade equipment?

Do you really get enough trafic to need a dedicated server? I'm just kinda curious because I run a sorta similiar site and at this point am not near needing a dedicated server to handle the traffic.

You can have your site hosted for about $10/month.. you'd be able to keep the site up several years based on the donations I've seen in your threads.

great site btw!

we have a infrastructure that we have recently upgraded to handle and support the Scoobymods.com site that has really taken off. I was running the website & SQL server off of a singel AMD K62-300 with 64mb of memory.

As the sites have generated more traffic, the server has really bogged down. We upgraded the server to 2 servers with slightly more powerful hardware.

Because of some the components that we run, we have decided it would be in our best interest to keep things in-house and retain root level control of the environment.

I'll paypal you something. I used one of your ideas last week and will be using Peaty's '99 RS intake modification idea in a couple of days (related to the silencer removal). A

I just wanted to take a moment out to all the folks that have helped out Scoobymods thus far, be it with money, equipment, or submitted modifications, and to thank Aaron, Kastle, and Danny for keeping all the equipment up and running... I think Peaty and I are a bit more comfortable ripping apart a Subaru than with ripping apart a server ;). At any rate, anything that anyone who can contribute even a little something would be most appreciated :). Scoobymods wouldn't even be here for the community as a whole if it weren't for people who contributed time, effort, or energy to the cause ;).

Well, i don't have any money to help support your cause, cuz i blew it all on mods. However, i still think i might be able to help. If you are looking for computer equipment and know-how, you should call my wife's company "Infosystems." She's a sales rep with them and i'm sure she can hook you up with some great pricing. they do anything and everything regarding computer equipment. if you like, i'll get you her number and let her know you might be interested. if you need anything that is!

i hope that helps a little!
