I think you guys have read this one before but I found it on the net today. A bit confused. Does the writer like the car or does he/she not?

If it sounds as though we're being nitpicky, you're right. The car is so dead on, so perfectly suited to our performance-hungry appetites, that putting it down because of sub-par cupholders and a distinct lack of interior space is no more than nit-picking.

[little boy's voice]hey mikey, i think he likes it...[/little boy's voice]

the only thing i'm confused about is the glowing review of the brakes. it says the brakes are awesome, stopping the car from 60mph in 115ft. the recent autoweek review complained about the brakes not performing well, especially when hot. they came up with 122ft stopping from 60mph...hrmm....

On my test drive of the WRX I thought the brakes were awesome--before reading that Edmunds review. Then again, I was driving the automatic and that was the one thing that impressed me.

theres a distinction here, which is brakes FEELING good, and brakes stopping you in a minimum distance.

Its important for the brake pedal to feel good not just for cosmetic reasons, but so you can control the force your applying well.

How quickly the car actually stops when the brakes are cold, has more to do with your tires and your suspension stiffness. If you can kick in the ABS, then your brakes are squeezing hard enough to max out the traction of your tires.

then, there is the question of how the brakes perform when they are heated up. Street brake pads arent optimized for this usually, so they can get worse as they got hot. Replacing with street/race pads will usually fix that though...
