Both sides are leaking. I replaced one rocker cover gasket along with grommets last summer, but it is leaking oil again. I did not use any type of RTV, only the rubber gasket that was provided from subaru. I'm pretty sure the manual I read said not to use RTV, and when I removed the cover I did not see any signs of RTV there from before. My question is, am i supposed to use some kind of RTV? Not using it when I changed the gasket last year is the only reason I can think of for it to be leaking already.

Did you the replace grommets in the rocker/valve cover? I think there are 10 for the 2.5 and 6 for the 2.2 and 1.8 IIRC. I've been putting this job off because I don't want to spend $60, but I don't think there is any RTV involved unless you use a touch to hold it in place.
