Has anyone reversed their intake manifold and used a wrc type fmic that sits high in the grill between the lights instead of a fmic that sits in the lower part of the grill? I know that if you reverse the manifold you lose the a/c and might need to make a custom bracket. What issues will there be if you have to angle the radiator and the intercooler to make the room needed. I was thinking about an intercooler like that used in the porsche 944 and making custom piping for it.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v259/beanersbox/19_1_b.jpg

I have not seen anyone using it seems like more of a pain to do!!!!

I have always wanted to do this. You have to cut the radiator support, and you will also have to move the radiator like the WRC car, it has to be angled back. The problems is that there is not much space because in the WRC car they move the engine back a couple centimeters.

It can be done, it'll take a lot of customk fabricating... I tossed the idea around but I think I'll stick with a normal fmic.

I believe Axis-Power has done it before.

Yea i figured that it would take a lot of work and i knew about having to cut the radiator mount on top but then i saw this intercooler from 944's and they go for like 150 on ebay which seems cheap enough to maybe give it a go.

Does the radiator support add any type of structural support besides being used to hold up the radiator?

yes it holds the font of the car together

yes it holds the font of the car together
so how does the JUN car work? I'm not trying to be a dick, just wondering... do they add support in other places?

The Jun car has been seam welded with over 2000 welds. It also have other factors such as beams that have been welded into place for more structural rigidness!!! Definately not your average grocery getter.

Yes, but still how much ridgidness can that radiator mount have so far upfront on the car. It doesnt look like it does that much to me as far as making the body rigid.

i hve seen the reversed intake manifold on a few scoobs and its actually what im doing on my new motor but too much work and jus easier to run and standrd fmic

Well yes it is easier to run the tmic or a normal fmic...but can you cut the radiator mount without it affecting the rigidness of the body. Did the scoobs with the reversed intake minfolds you have seen cut the radiator mount?

Yes you can cut the rad support. It doesn't do much aside from holding the rad in place and lights/grill. One drawback is you will lose the hood latch, so you obviously have to use some other form of hood latch/pin such as what rally cars use. You also have to fabricate support for the lights like the pic below. Thats Doug Havir's rally car.
