Ok, I use my Wrx sedan to run in SM auto-x and would like something better than the stock belts. Something along the lines of a 4-pt to use with the stock seat.

Thanks,
Jose

Less money, safer, comfy, neater:

More money, less safe, more comfy, harder to get in and out of, clutters your back seat on the street:

I use the Schroth Rally 4, purchased from Brett at www.soloracer.com. Easy install, works like a champ. They can be manipulated around and under your seats so that they don't clutter things up at all (IMO). They work far better than regular seat belts.

I might as well throw this out there, too: some people feel that the use of harnesses in a street car, without proper roll cage and/or harness bar, and/or anti-submarine straps, are dangerous. You'll get some very vehement opinions on boths sides of this issue, but at the end of the day you'll need to make up your own mind if the harnesses are something you want to do.

For myself -- no problem. Instructors at HPDE's/track days always choose the harnesses over the seat belts in my car, even though I give them the option to go either way.

Harnesses are intended to arrest your forward momentum in the event of an accident, not pin you in the seat for better control. That's the job of the seat.

If you want to be held in better during cornering and quick transitions, buy a proper race seat. The Sparco Corsa and Pro2000 are reasonable in price.
You can use stock belts very easily if you pass the mounted side of the lap belt through the side hole on the mounting side.

id recommend the schroth's. i have a sparco 3 point harness and i hate it. not enough adjustment built into it.
