Anyone interested in sharing some timing maps? I started out with TXS's UTEC Stage 2 "octane impaired" map timing numbers on my car (nothing but uppipe and catted APS TBE) just as a baseline... I've got plenty of fuel, 10.5:1 but I'm getting ping at 14-15 psi in the 4000-4500 rpm range. I got rid of it easy enough by pulling 2 degrees out of that region, leaving me around 12-12.5 degrees... but that seems REALLY low even on CA gas. I'm wondering if my AEM is off sync with the engine a bit.
What kind of numbers are other standalone users running for timing around torque peak areas? Ideally from some people stuck on 91-octane like me, but I'm interested in seeing the whole picture.

First on the WRX ,STI or any car with direct ignition system you dont sync the AEM.
On low octane fuel is common to see 12 to 13 degree on that area specially if the A/F is near 11.0.
Use the atalogging option and see what is the A/F and timming and boost on that area.
Use the overlay option of the grap to see all this option at the same time.
If you continue to see knocking on that area decrease one degree and lean that area a bit and see what happen.
OK, as long as 12-13 degrees isn't out of the ordinary I'm not worried. I guess I forget that on a standalone the timing numbers are absolute, there's no ECU intervention, so the UTEC timing numbers could be a little more generous. Just wanted a bit of a reality check. The car feels great and runs strong. Now I'm just working on low-end drivability... tough to get ratios consistent in the 3000 rpm range around 0 psi since a lot of transitions are happening in that neighborhood.
Still, the car feels smoother than stock at all but one little irritating point in the operating range. Pulls harder, too.
