Well, I've decided the frist mod(s) on my 02 rex should be some gauges. Looking to get Omori guages to fit in with the Autometer bezel pod (dual pod on the steering column). Anyway, one gauge will be boost. I'm torn between getting oil temp, EGT, or oil pressure for the second though. Can anyone convince me which to get? Future mods will level off to Cobb Stage 2 BTW.

PS Are Omori gauges pretty good overall? Where can I find the best prices for them?

I just got a set of the Omori's with Autometer Bezel pod on Tuesday. I don't have them in yet though. The gauges are really awesome to see in person, much better than any photo I've seen. I got the EGT gauge myself. Cobb Stage 1 for now, Stage 2 parts should arrive any day now.

Maybe this weekend I may be able to get the Boost gauge all hooked up and running. I did have to shave off some of the plastic where the gauges go in the Autometer Bezel to get the gaues to fit. Didn't take long, a dremel tool could have made it easier, I used a pocked knife.

J-Spec Tuning is an awesome place to deal with. I ordered cause they were overstocked on the 02/03 WRX look gauges (matches OE lighting). http://www.j-spectuning.com/ (Check vendor for sale -> interior, lighting for their last thread)

What size gauges did you purchase that didn't fit well?

I just mounted 3 Omori '02 wrx look gauges in the autometer center pod. I bought a dremmel for this gauge project becuase I didn't like the way the autometer pod sits up on top of the dash, so I ground it down to sit in the dash a little. The 52mm gauges were just barely too big for the holes in the pod, but I think autometer does this on purpose so you can enlarge the holes just enough to have a nice tight fit. A dremmel was invaluable for this project. Oh, and thumbs up to j-spec tuning, they were a pleasure to purchase from.

EGT, if you plan to play with boost like that.

Yeah, exactly what Chigliakus said. They are in there nice and tight now. Almost don't need those little bars to hold them in. But I put them in anyways.

Also have to give props to www.j-spectuning.com! I've gotten nothing but excellent service from Thaison.

I got boost, EGT, and the autometer bezel. The gauges fit into the bezel w/ just a little bit of sanding of the bezel. They were snug, but I'd rather they not move around once installed. I can still pull them out, but it takes some work. I also painted the bezel w/ semi-flat krylon automotive interior/exterior. It really improved the finish.

The gauges look and (mostly) work great. After a little fiddling w/ the color boxes, the illumination perfectly matches that of the stock gauges. My only problem was an EGT sensor that I had to have replaced under warranty. Thaison was great in handling the situation, and I'm very happy w/ both service and product.

Do you guys know how to set when the warning lights come on? Keeping in mind I don't even have the gauges installed yet.. well they are in the pod, but not on the car. This weekend I hope to do the install.

Edit: Nevermind I found it

...another vote for Thaison and J-Spec. I had a problem with my Turbo gauge (52mm Omori) but Thaison was quick to help me out and get the issue resolved (turned out it was an intermittent prob with the sender). My only other gripe is that my Volt meter recently went south. .....I'll be replacing it when I get time. I've had my gauges for a little over two years if I remember correctly.

Boost/EGT is a very informative and useful guage combination.

I have 60mm Omori's in a defi pod. It looks great and I have had no problem with them
what so ever. Boost EGT, Oil pressure. I vote Oil Press for your second gauge it is the life line of your car.

Are two your limit? If so, I've got to agree with the Boost and Oil Pressure. Then consider EGT and volts.

I'm a gauge junkie myself. I can't have too many. Counting my analog clock in a pod, I've got ten, with none of them on the A-pillar.

Fair enough.
