View Full Version : Question about STi Gauge pack
th1rd3y3 03-17-2005, 10:00 AM My wife and I will be taking delivery of our new 05 STi tonight, but i have a question about the gauge pack that's installed on it. I don't particulary care for the look of the guages since they don't really match the dash gauges. Is it very hard to replace them with aftermarket ones such as the DeFi one? (Assuming I get a different housing of course).
Fubawu 03-17-2005, 10:02 AM It is very easy, just need new pod and gauges. Defi can be a little harder due to their link system. Still though it is very easy, I would look at other companys i.e Apexi and Greddy etc. I have Omori 60 mm's with a Defi pod.

Fubawu 03-17-2005, 10:04 AM I see you are in Williamsport, I am down that way all the time. I have Family in the "port". I must say I do not see to many WRX's or STI's around the area. It will be easy to spot you.

th1rd3y3 03-17-2005, 10:10 AM I'll check into those other guages as well, I initially chose Defi because of the look of the guages.
Yeah, there aren't many STi's in the area. If you see an Aspen white w/ gold wheels or a Blue RX-8 it's probably me or my wife :) Both cars are rather rare around here.
th1rd3y3 03-17-2005, 10:13 AM BTW, do you know what the size of the stock gauges are?
Fubawu 03-17-2005, 01:05 PM I am not sure but I would guess 52mm. Is gauge pack not an expensive upgrade? Why did you opt for it? You might have seen mine 02 WRX silver Bronze rims turbo upgrade
exhaust etc.....very load! oh ya it also has Ontario plates!

Ok, well I opted for the gauges for 2 reasons 1) I HATE the steering column gauge and 2) I saw what (at the time) I thought was a stock gauge pod on an STi but later found out it was the red Defi gauges
and no the gauges weren't cheap, another $700 :(
djplayboy 03-17-2005, 01:43 PM i think the stock gauges are 45mm, but i think thats just the stock boost gauge on the colum
th1rd3y3 03-17-2005, 02:50 PM Well from a quick look the ones in the gauge pack appear to be about the same size as the column gauge. I suppose I'll find out in a few hours :)

Mulder 03-17-2005, 10:07 PM The factory gauges are 42mm in size. The boost gauge in the gauge pack is exactly the same one that is also available separately with the column mount.
It is possible to put aftermarket gauges in either the column mount or pod, the Omori 45mm ones will fit with a bit of work. For larger sizes (52mm, 60mm) in the 3-gauge pod you'll need to replace either the gauge mount bezel or the entire pod with aftermarket ones.

Yeah that's kind of what I figured. I suppose I'll probably just get around to replacing the whole set eventually.
just get the Defi pod for the clock an put them there. Your probably not gunna be able to moddify the stock pod enough to fit 60mm gauges in there.

My plans exactly ;)
