View Full Version : Exhaust installation KillerTHC 07-21-2001, 11:26 PM is it possible to install to an exhaust without a car lift? how hard is it? ferretboy 07-21-2001, 11:41 PM yes and not very hard at all. I think all you need are 2 14mm wrenches and that's it. well that's what I needed with mine. ~ferretboy signing out inpreza kid 07-21-2001, 11:48 PM i just done it a day ago. its harder than it looks. also expect to run into some problems. Overtime 07-22-2001, 12:56 AM Get a set of ramps and wheel chocks. It'll be so much easier...especially for the midpipe. asusimpreza 07-22-2001, 02:56 PM I don't know about you, but I tried to install it with no car lift. It was extremely hard, considering my head kept on getting stuck on some parts underneath the car. Yes, sounds like a funny situation, but not for me!! LOL So I'm sure you can do it, with some time, elbow grease and if you have a smaller head than mine. haha Ben MagicMT 07-22-2001, 09:37 PM All I used was the E-jack and socket wrench. It was crampt under there though! You'll probably need new gaskets too. Mike SubaTubaru 07-23-2001, 02:09 AM yea, i instaled my stromung without a jack.. it was not that hard just a pain in the arse. took me like 7 min, but i hurt my back lol MagicMT 07-23-2001, 03:12 AM SubaTubaru, you didn't jack it up at all? You must be one skinny ass dude! Mike Andrew 07-23-2001, 04:23 AM just jack up the driver side. if you cant get good leverage on the bolts put the socket wrench in a good position and hit it with a hammer. ive changed exhausts using only 1 jack. SubaTubaru 07-23-2001, 04:33 AM lol i installed my stromung without a lift... as for being skinny?? lol you all make me laugh! remarcable 07-23-2001, 05:20 AM A $30 set of ramps from autozone or their ilk will make the task much easier. SubaTubaru 07-23-2001, 06:37 AM yea buy the ramps then return them!!! thats what i would do lol ferretboy 07-23-2001, 12:39 PM <laughing hysterically>   (in wrx commercial voice) "now that's the beauty of forester clearance" I just rolled under my car, unbolted the 2 that connect behind the cat, then unhooked the hangers and dropped the entire unit off the car...slid the Rallispec setup in (on ground cloth) hung the midpipe, bolted it up then hung the rear section and connected the v-coupler and off I went! ~ferretboy signing out. MagicMT 07-23-2001, 01:22 PM SubaTubaru, did you install a midpipe too or just muffler? I don't think you need to jack it for just muffler. Mike |
