Could someone please tell me where the self diagnostic wires are located on a 94 Impreza? Autozone can not check this for me because it's too old. I have heard that these wires are located at the right under the dash but I can not find any connectors that are not already connected together. The CEL is on and the cooling fans come on when that light comes on, every time. If I turn the key on, the fans and the CEL come on. If I disconnect the battery and re-connect the light will go off for a while but then come back on. Car is using way too much gas and is hard to start. Thank for any assistance.

Sounds like the typical symptoms of a bad coolant temperature sensor, a fairly common problem.
