This kid I know has a 2005 Silverado Diesel with an Edge Juice chip and thinks he can kick my ass in the 1/4 mile. He also says it would'nt be a fair race cause his truck shuts off at 95. What do you guys think? I have told him a million times that I would spank him but he insists he would win. His claim is 450hp and 825tq. But his truck ways 7200lbs. I dont know to much on Diesels so opinions, please.

ive seen some pretty fookin fast turbo deisels, granted you cant even see them if you are behind them, but very fast... Idk if thats enough power to beat your sti, but its gonna haul for sure.

Ive seen some trucks run some good quater miles, but with just a chip I dont think that he is making that kind of power. Diesels have a lot of low end tq, but he is probably almost 2 times your weight. Dont believe hp and tq numbers unless you see the dyno results for yourself. Go to the track and see if he will back up his claims.

Fast Duallie (http://www.logantele.com/~pbaker/stuff/f350run.wmv )

If you don't know about diesels...
50+Psi (I've seen over 100), Propane injection+nitrous, 5" exhaust...

Do the math. Displacement+Forced Induction=HP/TQ

I've personally lined up against a Dodge 2500 Crew Cab 4x4 which ran a 12.5 1/4 with a 1.7 60' Blew so much black smoke out that 5" exhaust that you couldn't see the strip for two or three minutes afterwards.

ya id have to say that duramax would be a good run but you would still take em. Better make sure you know how to launch =0)..or youll be playing catch up. the 2005's are even faster than the 2004's (stock) and im sure they run awesome with the edge chip. I have a excursion thats modded. My best friend she has a f250 with the 6.0 modded. and about three others arund my area are pretty heavy into diesels. there real fun and throw alot of cool black smoke. =0).

he may only run 95mph, but if he is at the end of the track doing 95mph before you get there, you still lose.

If you can drive your STI right, you will beat him. An STI can run 12.9-13.2 stock, sorry deisel boy, a chip isnt going to get you there.

I say race him if you can drive it worth a damn.

The Edge Chip and exhaust will yeild those type of numbers as I plan on doing that to my 04 Quad Cab Duramax. Oh ya, and the weight is way off. My truck being a quad cab weighs in at around 6600. If you know how to drive your car it shouldnt be a problem, but you will in no way wipe the floor with that truck.

i have two customers with 11sec diesels both dodge rams in the 800hp range, it would be close but, i doubt the chevy with a chip is gonna get you. just dont let him get the move

If you can launch properly it shouldnt even be a race to be worried about....those weight figures cant be right can they??? wow if so you shouldnt have any problem at all, and the torque number also sounds way off for just a chip, have you seen any of these claims in person? either way you should def. win, you have a damn Sti it runs 12.9-13 bone stock

ha his car only runs to 95 sounds like he has an extremly low gearing, I know that cant be stock, unless the chip sets that as a cutoff.

either way run him, you should def. beat him......either way post some times when u get them!

check www.dieselinnovations.com, they've got some wicked stuff. diesels have huge potential, but i doubt a chevy with a chip is gonna give you any trouble in the quarter.

Yea I keep telling him he doesnt have a chance. I've only raced my car once and got 13.549. If I beat him his is the kind of kid that will keep doing things till he beats my. I guess I will find out soon when the strip opens.

If 13.5 is your best keep up on the practice, because if he is that type of guy that will keep modding to beat you, he is very close. The 95mph thing is the stock speed limiter, but trust me they haula** up to that point. If he puts propane on the truck, goodnight till you do some more mods to your STi. I've done alot of research as I own a truck like the one in question.

on a non public road, in the middle of no where, my friend with a 2004 f250 lifted on 38s with tbe and edge power module and myself with just uppipe and tbe both took a run, and we were dead even until about 85 or 90. now i dont know about you guys, but i think that is damn repectable

learn how to launch the hell out of your STi, like a 1.6 or 1.7 60ft, and race him at an 1/8 mile track. Dont race him from a roll, he'll probably walk away. It would really help if you have a tbe for a little extra power. I have seen diesel trucks at the track running some crazy times, black smoke and all, but he wont catch you in the 1/8.

my friend has a 2004 dodge quad cab diesel with chip, exhaust, and high flow filter and we were at the track on saturday and his best was 15.7@88. I'm not sure what kind of chip he has but it gives him 130hp and 200tq.
